Abstract: A method for bioactive treatment of biological material from a plant source by exposure to one or more electromagnetic pulses are described. The biological material is in a target irradiation area. At least one electric pulse is generated. At least one electromagnetic pulse is then generated responsive to the at least one electric pulse. The at least one electromagnetic pulse generated to have parameters in common with that of natural lightning's electromagnetic pulses. The biological material is irradiated with the at least one electromagnetic pulse for bioactivation of the biological material for enhancement of the one or more growth characteristics thereof.

Abstract: A method of reducing herbaceous fuels may include identifying a region to reduce herbaceous fuels, dividing the region into susceptible areas, placing the susceptible areas in an order, and introducing an ingestible into a first susceptible area in the order. The method may also include selecting an ungulate group and the ingestible may be highly palatable, portable, and self-limiting. Placing the susceptible areas in an order may include analyzing the susceptible areas for a level of susceptibility, prioritizing the susceptible areas based on each area's conditions and surroundings, and/or considering practical aspects of treating all of the susceptible areas of the region. The ingestible may be moved throughout the region to reduce herbaceous fuels.

Abstract: A shelter for an animal comprises a base member having a plurality of recessed channels formed in an upper surface thereof and adjacent to a perimeter thereof, a plurality of wall members coupled with the recessed channels in the base member so as to form an enclosure that defines an interior space, and a roof member pivotally attached to at least one of the wall members so as to move between an open and closed configuration. The shelter comprises a removable storage member positioned between the base member and the roof member so as to vertically separate the interior space into an interior storage compartment and an interior residential compartment for the animal. The shelter comprises a movable partition member positioned between at least two of the wall members and adapted to vary the dimension of the interior residential compartment.

The controller may modify an irrigation setting of the water distribution system based on a pet elimination signal from the pet monitoring system. The pet elimination signal may correspond to an event such as a pet urination event.

The aquarium overflow device according to the present invention is equipped with a water storing portion 52 for storing water W in an aquarium, an overflow pipe 54 extended upwardly in the water storing portion 52 and having an upper end opening for introducing the water W stored in the water storing portion 52 and a lower end opening for discharging the water which is open to a bottom wall side of the water storing portion 52, and a sound preventing cover 47 provided in the water storing portion 52 so as to cover the entire region of the above-water portion of the overflow pipe 54.

Abstract: The modular germinating apparatus provides a plurality of rods, each with an extendable insert whereby total length of the rod and insert is adjustable, the adjusted length selectively maintained by dual, outward pressed lock pins. Rods are positioned as chosen both horizontally and vertically between given objects, such as window sills. A plurality of planters with planter inserts is hung as chosen from the rods with extendable inserts, thereby providing for germinating a multitude of plants simultaneously, with great space efficiency. Each insert provides a plurality of individual compartments, each compartment having drain holes for draining excess liquids from the compartments to the planter below, thereby maintaining optimal germinating environments.

Abstract: A system and apparatus for supporting newly planted trees or other upright for use with a plurality of stakes that have been positioned adjacent and around the tree to be supported. In one aspect of the invention, the individual stakes are rigidly secured together by elements which are vertically movable along the stakes and releasably secured to the stakes at desired vertical positions. In another aspect of the invention, flexible tie members interconnect the tree trunk with a vertical stake. The connection between the tie member and its associated stake is such that the connection may be releasably locked to the stake at different vertical positions along the stake.

Abstract: A device for application on an animal for deterring the animal from wound licking is provided. The device includes a flexible first layer of material and a deterrent composition in contact with the flexible first layer of material. A layer of adhesive is connected with the flexible first layer of material, and a second layer of material is connected with the layer of adhesive opposite the flexible first layer of material. A method for deterring an animal from licking a wound is also provided.

Abstract: A multi-compartment pet training system includes a front compartment joined to a rear compartment to define a passage therebetween such that the pet may move freely between the front compartment and the rear compartment. The front compartment includes a front door for ingress and egress of the pet between a surrounding area and the front compartment. The front compartment provides an area in which the pet may eat, drink and sleep. The rear compartment is configured to allow the pet to carry out urinary and/or fecal elimination while its owner is away. As such, the pet may be trained to utilize the rear compartment for carrying out waste elimination activities while utilizing the front compartment for all other activities.

Abstract: A panel for a modular green roof system includes a bottom and four sides extending upwardly therefrom to provide an enclosure for growing medium, with a first side having a height above the bottom, the panel configured to accommodate an irrigation head. The bottom of the irrigation head is positioned below the height of the first side and connects with a water supply line running horizontally along the first side. A mold defining a first opening can be formed in the first side, the first opening configured to receive the irrigation head, the mold extending toward a side opposing the first side. A notch formed in a first side flange extending from the first side may alternatively help secure the irrigation head. The top of the irrigation head can be elevated above the height of the first side to irrigate the panel and nearby panels with pressurized water.

Abstract: A portable and collapsible housing for poultry or other animals that includes a shelter having a half-lap shape, a base cage having a complimentary half-lap shape, a means for joining the shelter onto the base cage to form the housing is disclosed. A space in the shelter and a space in the base cage communicate with each other through an opening in the shelter. The housing further includes a door frame, at least one door, at least one cantilevered rod, and a ramp. The shelter is transformable into a box shaped container for shipping or storage.

Abstract: An auto-irrigation apparatus is provided. A control panel and a water-level indicator light are inserted in a side of an irrigating case. A water pump, a cell box, and a control circuit are inserted in the irrigating case. The control panel, water-level indicator light, cell box, and water pump are coupled to the control circuit. A solar panel is embedded in each of two cover panels. Each of the two cover panels are mounted on opposite sides of the irrigating case. The embedded solar panels are coupled to the cell box. A water conduit adapter is connected to an outlet of the water pump. A planter box is placed in the irrigating case above a built-in water reservoir so that the water conduit adapter passes through an aperture in the planter box. Then, the water conduit adapter is connected to a spray pipe positioned above the planter box.
