Abstract: Systems and methods for powering sensors on a shelf and using the sensors to detect attributes associated with physical objects are discussed. A handheld device can be coupled to a docking station which can be mounted on a supporting surface on of a shelf for supporting one or more physical objects. Sensors can be disposed on, in or about the supporting surface of the shelf. An electric circuit between the handheld device and the sensors can be powered to selectively energize or de-energize the sensors in response to the docking station coupling with the handheld device.

Abstract: In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to provide a visual indication of a weight of products stocked on a display assembly, such as a shelf of a shelving unit. The visual indication is provided by virtue of the display assembly having a product support member with a curved configuration that sequentially flattens as additional weight is added thereto. An electronic imaging device can be mounted proximate to the assembly and oriented to capture an image of the product support member and a control circuit can be configured to receive the image and analyze the image to determine a current stock level.

Abstract: In some embodiments, systems, apparatuses, and methods are provided herein useful to provide an indication of a stock level of a product support member. Compressed air is directed through a plurality of bores extending through the product support member. A sensor reading of the compressed air can be utilized to determine whether there are products stocked on the product support member due to the products blocking one or more of the bores.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining a customer's progress through a checkout line at a store and for correlating customer satisfaction thereto. A mobile electronic device with mobile self checkout software thereon may record and analyze ambient noise to determine when a customer is in a checkout line as well as to track the customer's progress through the checkout line. The software may provide detailed data about the shopping and checkout experience. This information may be correlated to customer satisfaction and used identify particular strengths and weaknesses in the shopping experience offered by a store.

Abstract: A consumables stock subtraction processing unit in a management apparatus calculates a counter value used in the determination of stock subtraction for a consumable product by using the value of a counter included in a residual amount notification acquired from an image formation apparatus. When the difference of the determination counter value calculated upon receipt of a previous residual amount notification and a determination counter value calculated upon receipt of a new residual amount notification is greater than or equal to a predetermined value, stock subtraction processing for the consumable is performed.

Abstract: A method and system for eliminating a need for coins in cash transactions in most currencies includes a comparison of a sum of a fractional dollar amount of an original transaction amount of a cash transaction between a merchant and a consumer plus a beginning value of a consumer storage device to a value of either 1.00 or 2.00. The amount of the value depends on whether a sum of credits and debits incurred by the merchant is greater or less than or equal to a sum of per transaction fees. The original transaction amount is decreased or increased to the next whole dollar amount, thereby providing a new transaction amount, if it is determined that the sum of the fractional dollar amount of the original transaction amount plus the beginning value of the consumer storage device is greater or less than, respectively, the value assigned.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods are described for reducing latency during invoice generation involving credit distribution. In some implementations, references to invoice line items are sorted by supplemental charge rate and credits are applied to the invoice line items in decreasing supplemental charge rate order. An invoice is generated that includes the invoice line items and associated credits. The process of generating applying the credits is optimized to minimize latency and to provide the greatest financial benefit to the user.

Abstract: A payment card returned as undeliverable is processed with a card administration system that responds to the return of the payment card by setting a “returned” indicator in a data record of a cardholder to whom the payment card was intended for delivery, and otherwise maintains the cardholder's account without change. A card handling system initiates destruction of the returned payment card and provides a replacement payment card to the cardholder if updated profile information of the cardholder is received within a predetermined time period, and closes the cardholder account and returns any funds in the cardholder account if no updated profile information of the cardholder is received within the predetermined time period.

The bill payment system determines if it has payment information for the identified payee, and adds the payee to the user's list of payees. Alternatively, the financial data may be accessed and aggregated by a personal finance management application and then analyzed by a computer to identify a payee. Then the identified payee is communicated to the online bill payment system, which adds the identified payee to the user's list of payees.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments including systems and methods relating to the rendering of media content items on clients. For example, a media content item is designated in a server to be rendered on a client, where the server is configured to stream the media content item to the client. It is determined whether a copy of the media content item is locally accessible to the client for rendering on the client. When the copy of the media content item is not locally accessible to the client, the media content item is streamed from the server to the client.

Abstract: Formatting of data entered and/or stored in a financial transaction record may be automatically corrected or modified to an expected or compatible format. The format in which data is to be stored may be defined by a financial institution processing the transaction and/or a customer affected by the transaction. Format rules may be defined and used to judge whether a transaction record parameter meets the required format. If so, the record parameter may be validated and saved. If, however, the parameter is not formatted according to the rule, the system may automatically revise the value stored in the parameter to satisfy the requirements. According to another aspect, if a transaction record has been modified, manual confirmation of the change may be requested.

The centralized web services computer system may also provide services related to routing messages, looking up territory-related information, checking user information against blacklists, issuing instructions to FIs to debit or credit user accounts, and/or generating reports.

Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for automatically inferring when a target that is being tracked by an aerial vehicle is doing something significant (e.g. stopping suddenly, changing direction quickly or getting out of track view), and consequently alerting an operator. The alerting system also provides a classification of what the target is doing. It frees the operator from continuously monitoring the imagery stream so the operator can perform other tasks.
