  • Patent number: 5979891
Abstract: A device for selecting cut paperboard blanks has two series of drive belts detining two paths tor the blanks, namely an upper path and a lower path each of which is defined between drive belts. The upper and lower paths diverge from each other in the device. A flap that is disposed where the paths diverge from each other is pivotally mounted about a downstream shaft and is capable of occupying two positions, namely, a lower position in which the blanks are fed to the upper path and an upper position in which the blanks are fed to the lower path. Each of the paths has an upstream portion from the flap and a downstream portion from the flap and each of the paths is more steeply inclined relative to the horizontal in one of its upstream and downstream portions than in the other of its upstream and downstream portions.

  • Patent number: 5967508
Abstract: A film sheet picker assembly comprising: a picker member which is movable into and out of proximity with the top film sheet of a stack of film sheets; a plurality of vacuum cups rotatably mounted on the picker member; means for biasing the plurality of vacuum cups at an angle relative to the top surface of the top film sheet; a roller assembly operatively associated with the plurality of vacuum cups; and a control for moving the picker member into proximity with the top film sheet of a stack of film sheets, such that the roller assembly contacts the top film sheet and rotates the plurality of vacuum cups into vacuum engagement with the top film sheet and for moving the picker member out of proximity with the stack of film sheets such that the biasing means rotates the vacuum cups to move the top film sheet out of contact with the stack of film sheets.

  • Patent number: 5927708
Abstract: An envelope side guide for a mailing machine includes an elongate support means which is formed to be extendable and retractable in a telescopic manner is connected at one end to a portion of the frame of the mailing machine and supports an envelope guide means on the other end. In one embodiment of the invention, the support means is rigidly connected to the mailing machine frame, and the guide means is mounted so as to be vertically movable on the other end of the support means so that it can be raised above the feed deck of the mailing machine to permit oversized envelopes to be fed into the mailing machine. In another embodiment of the invention, the support means is pivotally connected to the mailing machine frame and the guide means is rigidly connected to the other end of the support means so that the guide means can be raised merely by pivoting the entire side guide assembly upwardly.
