Abstract: A digital system and a method of operating a digital system wherein the digital system has a digital resource and an event detector detect events of the digital resource. An operational mode of at least one of the system and the digital resource in effect during an interval is determined and a number of events that occur during the interval is accumulated. The accumulated events are compared against at least one threshold associated with the operational mode and action is taken if the comparison indicates an out-of-nominal operation of the digital resource.

  • Patent number: 11307921
Abstract: One embodiment provides for a data processing system comprising multiple independent processors to execute multiple operating system environments of the data processing system, the multiple operating system environments to enable operation of multiple regions of a computing device associated with the data processing system. The multiple operating system environments are interconnected via a transport agnostic communication link. In response to detection of a fatal error in one or more of the multiple operating system environments, the multiple operating system environments coordinate performance of multiple separate error handling operations within the multiple operating system environments to generate a combined error log. The combined error log includes operational states of the multiple operating system environments.

  • Patent number: 11288165
Abstract: One or more embodiments analyze log records of applications to determine whether a composite rule pertaining to events associated with the log records occurring within a specified time window are satisfied. Satisfaction of the composite rule may facilitate real-time diagnosis and detection of patterns in logs which indicate problems, threats, systemic issues, or performance issues relating to the applications. The composite rule may specify events associated with log records from multiple different applications that occur within a same specified time window and are associated with a same tenant and entity. Satisfaction of the composite rule may be analyzed by a state machine that tracks satisfaction of the individual rules within the composite rule in a sequence of stages. A notification, alert, or alarm may be generated when the composite rule is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 11288112
Abstract: Data loss thresholds are enforced when performing updates to mirrored data sets. When an update is received for a data set that is mirrored to other copies of the data set, an evaluation of the difference between the data set and the other copies of the data set may be performed. If the evaluation determines that the difference fails to satisfy a threshold for acceptable data loss at the other copies upon a failure of the data set, a data loss mitigation action may be applied to performance of the update until the difference satisfies the threshold.

  • Patent number: 11269707
Abstract: In various embodiments, a technique can be provided to address debug efficiency for failures found on an operational system. The approach can make use of an existing pin on a memory device with added logic to respond to a trigger signal structured different from a signal that is normally sent to the existing pin on the memory device such that the memory device performs a normal or routine function of the memory device in response to the signal. In response to detecting one or more error conditions associated with the memory device, a system that interfaces with the memory device can generate the trigger signal to the memory device. In response to receiving the trigger signal, the memory device can dump an error log of the memory device to a memory component in the memory device. The error log can later be retrieved from the memory component for failure analysis.

  • Patent number: 11221935
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a redundant information processing system that can continue its operation without stopping as much as possible. To achieve this, the information processing system includes multiple storage nodes including processors, memories, and storage devices, as well as a network for connecting the storage nodes. The processor of at least one storage node performs the steps of: obtaining the configuration information of the information processing system; obtaining first failure information related to a first failure occurred in the information processing system; calculating the availability level of the information processing system when a second failure further occurs, based on the configuration information and the first failure information; and controlling the operation of the system based on the availability level. Then, the processor outputs a notification.

  • Patent number: 11204848
Abstract: Inputs to a system under test (SUT) are modeled as a collection of attribute-value pairs. A set of testcases is executed using an initial set of test vectors that provides complete n-wise coverage of the attribute-value pairs. For each execution of the testcases, for each attribute-value pair, a non-binary success rate (SAV) is computed based on the binary execution results. in response to a success rate of an attribute-value pair being below a predetermined threshold, a subset of testcases that use the attribute-value pair is identified. Further, sets of code paths for the subset of testcases are identified, each set of code path respectively corresponding to a testcase from the subset of testcases. Further, an intersection of the sets of code paths is determined. Code paths of the SUT that are in the intersection, are highlighted to represent a soft failure with the SUT.

  • Patent number: 11194643
Abstract: Techniques for access operation status signaling for memory systems are described. In some examples, a memory system may respond to access commands from a host system by performing access operations such as read or write operations. In accordance with examples as disclosed herein, a system may be configured to support access operation status signaling between a host system and a memory system, which may improve the ability of the system to adapt to various access scenarios, including when access operation completion is delayed. For example, when a memory system is performing an error recovery or media management operation, the memory system may indicate that the error recovery or media management operation is being performed or is otherwise ongoing. Such status signaling may indicate that the memory system is actively performing operations, which may be used to inhibit a reset or reinitialization by a host system.

  • Patent number: 11194673
Abstract: Embodiments are described for enabling file level recovery (FLR) process for dynamic disks in a data storage system. A source virtual machine (VM) stores data files after a data backup operation and to be restored to a destination VM using the FLR operations; a copy of the source VM is spawned and has an Instant Recover (IR) execution component performing IR operations. A helper VM is spawned using the IR operation of the source VM copy. A FLR agent installed on each of the source VM copy and the destination VM is configured to identify a disk on the source VM as being a dynamic disk, and to allow the helper VM to act as a file transfer facilitator between the source VM and the destination VM. In this way, dynamic disks on the source VM are distinguished from regular disks even when they has the same UUID.

  • Patent number: 11175975
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting fault conditions associated with an distribution point in a communication system using retrain event data. The retrain event data is collected for all of the ports associated with a target site of the distribution point. The collected retrain event data can then be organized into several different categories such as upstream related retrain events and downstream related retrain events. A screening criteria can be selected that is associated with a fault condition. The screening criteria can be evaluated using one or more evaluation metrics. Each evaluation metric can be based on normalized parameters generated from the categorized retrain event data. If all of the evaluation metrics associated with a screening criteria are satisfied, then the screening criteria is satisfied and the target site is determined to have a fault condition.
