Abstract: Generating event summary annotation overlays on a video stream is provided. In response to detecting an occurrence of a triggering event in the video stream, a context-appropriate summary annotation of the triggering event occurring in the video stream is generated based on analysis of content and tone of dialog in the video stream within a defined window of time surrounding the triggering event. The context-appropriate summary annotation of the triggering event is displayed in the video stream for a defined interval of time.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes a communication interface; a memory storing a control code information of a content providing apparatus; and at least one processor configured to: based on repeatedly receiving, from a remote controller, a control signal for changing a volume value of the electronic apparatus more than a threshold number of times through the communication interface, obtain state information of the content providing apparatus, identify a current volume value of the content providing apparatus or a state of the content providing apparatus, based on the state information, and based on the current volume value of the content providing apparatus being less than or equal to a threshold value or the content providing apparatus being in a mute state, control the communication interface to transmit a control signal to change the volume value of the content providing apparatus to the remote controller based on the stored control code information.

Abstract: The content display system of the present invention includes: a first controller which displays content on a display; a second controller which receives a voice; a third controller which generates a command corresponding to the voice received by the second controller, and determines whether the generated command is a change command to change first content being displayed on the display; and a fourth controller which distributes, to the first controller, second content corresponding to the change command when the third controller determines that the command is the change command. The first controller changes a material being displayed on the display from the first content to the second content distributed by the fourth controller.

Abstract: A device for controlling TV viewing, capable of bi-directional video calling, may: connect a TV and a smartphone via a communication network; transmit an image captured by an embedded camera to the smartphone; establish bi-directional TV video calling between the embedded camera, TV, and smartphone by displaying an image signal of the smartphone via the TV; control TV viewing by linking to the smartphone via the wireless communication network; and support video calling between the TV and smartphone via a simple button operation when the elderly, infirm, and children, young and old, who have difficulty using a separate communication means are in an emergency situation.

Abstract: Methods and systems for inserting targeted advertisements into video content. One or more embodiments analyze video content to identify media insertion locations on digital object surfaces for inserting advertisements. Additionally, one or more embodiments select advertisements to insert into the video content at the media insertion locations based on the media insertion locations, a viewer, or a viewing device of the viewer. One or more embodiments also digitally insert the advertisements into the video content by placing the selected advertisements at the media insertion locations corresponding to the digital object surfaces. One or more embodiments then provide the video content with the targeted advertisements to the viewing device of the viewer.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method includes determining that audio quality is to be adjusted for a multimedia streaming connection over which audio data and video data are being streamed to a content player. The audio data is streamed at a specified audio quality level and the video data is streamed at a specified video quality level. The method also includes determining that a specified minimum video quality level is to be maintained while adjusting the audio quality level. Still further, the method includes dynamically adjusting the audio quality level of the multimedia streaming connection while maintaining the video quality level of the multimedia streaming connection at at least the specified minimum video quality level. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include systems, apparatuses and methods of instituting an online broadcasting system. The system may combine live video streaming, video on demand (VOD), messaging and other content provided by an owner of the live broadcast and by the owner's online followers. The media content may be combined into a single broadcast stream. The owner of the broadcast may use an online control room to choose in real time what stream of content to provide to his/her followers. A gaming and/or revenue sharing component may also be provided wherein the owner and the followers may earn points for viewing and/or interacting with sponsored media through the system.

Abstract: In accordance with the technique described herein, a home shopping content suitable for a specific viewer can be dynamically selected and provided using a product classification group of interest extracted based on the time at which a viewer selects a home shopping channel and the time at which the viewer leaves the home shopping channel. In particular, since the product classification group of interest can be extracted using an interest index calculated based on a bounce rate defined according to the technique described herein, the more personalized home shopping content can be provided to the viewer.

Time-stamped metadata for a first reference video frame which identifies objects in the reference frame may be generated, and sent across the communication path. Time-stamped metadata for each of a plurality of first delta video frames following the first reference video frame may be generated, the time-stamped metadata for each of the plurality of first delta video frames may identify changes in detected objects relative to the objects identified in the time-stamped metadata for the first reference video frame. The time-stamped metadata for each of the plurality of first delta video frames may be sent across the communication path.

Upon receiving a request to present content associated with the third-party system to a user of the online system, the online system determines one or more groups in which each object is included based on a condition satisfied by objects included in each group. For each of multiple formats that may be used to present each group of objects, the online system computes a format score indicating a predicted likelihood that the user will perform a set of actions corresponding to a set of objectives associated with the group if the format is used. The method includes one or more processors identifying an object depicted in a frame of a video file. The method further includes determining information associated with the identified object. The method further includes generating a graphical user interface (GUI) element that includes an embedded link to the determined information associated with the identified object. The method further includes embedding the generated GUI element into the video file overlaying a portion of the frame of the video file that corresponds to a location of the identified object within the frame of the video file.

Abstract: A system includes a client device capable of being associated with a number of networked devices through a computer network to: process an embedded object, constrain an executable environment in a security sandbox, and execute a sandboxed application in the executable environment. The embedded object is processed through the sandboxed application. The system also includes a relevancy-matching server to: receive primary data generated from fingerprint data of each of the number of networked devices, match the primary data with targeted data based on a relevancy factor, search a storage for the targeted data, and cause rendering of the targeted data through the embedded object processed through the sandboxed application of the client device. The primary data is any one of a content identification data and a content identification history.

Abstract: A TDR technique for performing in-service distance-to-fault measurements in cable TV networks is disclosed. Using a cable network tester configured to generate chirped probe pulses and to perform pulse-matched filtering and averaging of received echoes, network faults may be detected without interfering with the downstream reception. The probe pulse transmission may be timed to take advantage of the error correction coding in the network.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a reception apparatus, a transmission apparatus, and a data processing method that permit sharing of a resource that is reused among a plurality of services. The reception apparatus receives content and controls, on the basis of control information that is transported together with the content and that includes resource sharing information indicating whether a resource of the content is shared among a plurality of services, storage of the resource in a storage apparatus such that the resource is shared among the plurality of services.
