Patent number: 4293266Abstract: A wraparound enclosure has two sections, joined by a hinged strap member, which telescopingly engage when applied around an article to form a right rectangular parallelepiped. A microwave detectable tag is secured on the interior to one wall of the enclosure. The sections are interlocked in the closed condition by three pairs of latches and strikes, two on each of three sides of the enclosure. Typically the enclosure may be installed around a container holding a cassette of magnetic recording tape. For authorized removal of the cassette and its container from a protected area such as a store, the enclosure is removed by insertion in a releasing mechanism having means for grasping one section while applying spring pressure against the enclosed container through an opening in the grasped section. A lever, upon being depressed, actuates a series of rocker plates with fingers to simultaneously engage and release all of the latches whereupon the enclosure springs open.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1978Date of Patent: October 6, 1981Assignee: Sensormatic Electronics CorporationInventors: David S. Patent number: 4280786Abstract: A feed mechanism for transferring workpieces from a loading station to an unloading station comprises a carrier which is arranged to grip the workpieces during their transference and a frame relative to which the carrier is horizontally movable to effect the transference. The carrier is also movable vertically relative to the frame so that it can be raised or lowered vertically into engagement with each workpiece at the loading station. A piston and cylinder assembly is operable to raise and lower the carrier, and is controlled by a cam follower which is movable onto and off a raised portion of a movable cam. A further piston and cylinder assembly moves the cam relative to the follower when the carrier reaches either end of its horizontal travel, and the movement of the cam can be limited to control whether the carrier is raised or lowered or both raised and lowered at each end of its horizontal travel.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1978Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: The Tool Production and Design Company LimitedInventor: Leslie Dyche

Patent number: 4279558Abstract: The invention is a bag opening machine including a perforated drum mounted on a frame for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis. Opposite ends of the drum define a bag receiving opening and a bag discharge opening and a material receiving hopper is mounted on the frame below the drum. A conveyor system transports particulate material filled bags into the drum through the bag receiving opening after the bags have been penetrated by a blade mechanism mounted on the frame. Enclosing the entire machine is a vented enclosure that prevents the migration of dust particles into the surrounding environment. After having been opened by the penetrating blade mechanism, the bags are conveyed into the rotating drum and emptied by the tumbling action therein.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1978Date of Patent: July 21, 1981Inventor: Gilbert V. Patent number: 4279561Abstract: In press line operations, a workpiece conveyor device is necessary to carry workpieces from one press to another. Preferably, this conveyor should be readily removable for repairs, adaptable to a large number of presses, and readily reprogrammable to adapt to a variety of workpieces. To achieve this, a conveyor is provided having a cross member mounted on a movable carriage which moves along a track on a frame bridging the intermediate space between two presses. Horizontal movement of the carriage along the track, vertical movement of the cross member on the carriage, and movement of a positioning device for the workpieces is provided by setting drives controlled by a continuous-path numerical control unit. For repairs, the entire frame can be moved out of the intermediate space in a direction at a right angle to the direction of workpiece travel.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1978Date of Patent: July 21, 1981Assignee: L. Patent number: 4277216Abstract: A tray transport device for transferring trays in one direction or the other between a tray transport trolley and a conveyor for delivering or carrying trays from the transport device. The transport device includes vertical members which supports sets of horizontal parallel tray carrying strips which are disposed essentially parallel to a plurality of vertical sets of tray rails in a tray trolley. The sets of carrying strips are vertically shiftable by a drive into different height positions corresponding to levels of the trays in a trolley. The uppermost height position is level with the delivery station of a belt conveyor. A horizontal continuous belt conveyor located below and between the tray strips is also vertically shiftable as a unit to a plurality of levels equal to the tray levels in the trolley and is horizontally shiftable as a unit to be moved between and under any selected level of trays in the trolley to shift trays from the trolley to the tray carrying strips.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1979Date of Patent: July 7, 1981Inventor: Gunnar V. Patent number: 4273054Abstract: In an induced repulsion type magnetic suspension system for a railway vehicle, superconductive magnets of opposite polarities are alternately set at specific intervals in the longitudinal direction of vehicle, while in the longitudinal direction of the track conductive loop coils or conductive sheets are continuously set at specific intervals, whereby the repulsion due to the eddy current caused by a voltage induced in said conductive loop coils or conductive sheets by the superconductive magnets and said superconductive magnets levitates the vehicle. In this invention, an additional source to produce a magnetic field of the same polarity is provided on the vehicle; and thereby a magnetic flux with the same period as the vehicle vibration is applied which intersects said conductive loop coils or conductive sheets on the ground when the vehicle vibrates.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1977Date of Patent: June 16, 1981Assignee: Japanese National RailwaysInventors: Hiroshi Yamashita, Takehiko Iwahana, Shunsuke Fujiwara
