  • Patent number: 8423034
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for controlling transmission in a wireless network. In these systems and methods a sequence of time zones may be provided whereby each time zone can be allocated to one of a plurality of base stations. For each base stations dead times in the sequence are identified in which the e base station is prohibited from transmitting and receiving. The dead times for the base station may correspond to transmit or receive zones of at least one other base station. The dead times can be interleaved with transmit zones and receive zones assigned to the base station. Configuration and duration of the dead times may be selected to reduce interference between base stations. Base stations can support different wireless transmission systems including OFDM and OFDMA systems and others.

  • Patent number: 8369895
Abstract: A method for aligning polling timer by a mobile station with a first subscriber identity card and a second subscriber identity card, executed by a processor of the mobile station, is provided. First, it is determined whether the second subscriber identity card is operated in an IDLE state when a first timer corresponding to the first subscriber identity card counts to a specific time period. Forthcoming periodic timings are adjusted for polling the first and second subscriber identity cards to be substantially consistent when the second subscriber identity card is operated in an IDLE state.

  • Patent number: 8290539
Abstract: A beam selection method in open loop MU-MIMO is disclosed, for an asymmetric antenna configuration. The proposed beam selection method employs limited feedback, as compared with single-user closed-loop MIMO and multiple-user closed-loop MIMO, in which the base station requires channel state information (CSI). The multi-user MIMO beam selection method selects the portion of beams from candidate beams for data transmission, meaning that the base station is training M beams. From this, the subscriber station selects N beams from the total M beams, with N?M.

  • Patent number: 8265638
Abstract: Transmitting streamed video to at least one wireless terminal by a wireless network having a channel frequency reuse pattern. The wireless network receives a request for the streamed video from the at least one wireless terminal and receives position information from the at least one wireless terminal requesting the streamed video. The wireless network selects a transceiving device to service transmission of the streamed video to the at least one wireless terminal. The transceiving device is allocated a first channel frequency set of the channel frequency reuse pattern. The wireless network or a component thereof selects a channel from a second channel frequency set that is different from the first channel frequency set. The transceiving device then, using a directional antenna, transmits the streamed video to the at least one wireless terminal in a direction based upon the position information using the selected channel.

  • Patent number: 8254345
Abstract: A beacon scheduling method in multi-hop ad-hoc communications is provided. This method can prevent overhead in a manner that a base station (BS) transmits beacon slot information to a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA)/collision avoidance (CA) node (CN) and a gateway (GW) through contention-free time division multiple access (TDMA) communications at initial clustering, the CN and the GW performs a sequential clustering to forward the beacon slot information to a cluster head (CH), the CH aggregates joining messages from nodes and assigns non-colliding beacon slots to the nodes, and the GW uses a beacon slot frame of a beacon transmission period (BTP) used by its selected CH in a beacon reply period (BRP) as well. Accordingly, the CH does not need to separately perform the initialization to elect the beacon slot, and the GW also does not require a separate initialization to select the beacon relay slot.
