  • Patent number: 5385165
Abstract: A self erecting hunting blind is provided with a quick release opening. A self erecting structure is formed having a first lower loop and a second upper loop arranged transverse to the lower loop. The fabric covering the upper transverse loop is divided into longitudinal halves which are releasably held together by a quick release apparatus. Upon releasing the quick release, the transverse loop halves move away from each other and fold flat against the ground completely uncovering a hunter within the blind. The blind may be used on the ground or over a boat.

  • Patent number: 5370145
Abstract: A collapsible shield including flat spring frame and flexible sheet material. The frame substantially supporting the sheet material to form a shield. During the folding process for storage, the frames can be formed to a loop configuration by bending and having the ends of each frame held together by any suitable means such as coupling, retaining clip. The loop frames are collapsed by twisting and folding to form a plurality of concentric loop rings and layers of fabric to substantially reduce the size of the shield.

  • Patent number: 5360028
Abstract: A base having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a shape symmetrical about a fold line defining first and second halves is selectively moveable between an open position and a closed position. A substantially concave shell has an open bottom defining an outer periphery which is releasably attached to the top surface of the base. A resilient frame member supports the shell above the top surface of the base to define an interior volume between the base and the shell when the tent is in the open position. The shell and the resilient frame member collapse and fit between the first and second halves of the base when the two base halves are moved to the closed position. The base extends beyond the outer periphery of the shell, providing an area for the user to enjoy while being protected from the support surface.

  • Patent number: 5355904
Abstract: A stairway climbing aid having a plurality of individual adjustable half-step members fixedly connected to a rigid elongated channel member at spaced locations along the length of the latter to comprise a rigid assembly. The channel member is connected to each of the half-step members adjacent the rear end of the latter and at an elevation and angle such that the channel member will extend upon or adjacent the outer edge of the tread of each step. The half-step members are longitudinally adjustable so that their length can equal the depth of the particular steps to which they are applied. Thus, any stairway can be readily modified to facilitate travel thereover by persons having difficulty in taking full steps, by applying such an assembly to the steps along one side of the stairway, after adjusting the individual half-steps to the depth of the treads.

  • Patent number: 5353826
Abstract: An easily removable tent topper designed to be installed on a truck bed when needed and be road worthy at highway speeds. The tent topper comprises a plurality of roll bar shaped assemblies and a tent. The tent has openings therein at preselected locations which permit the tent to engage a plurality of adjustable pins, the pins being part of the roll bar shaped assemblies. These pins, with their associated adjustment knobs, permit stretching or making taut the tent. Furthermore, the tent topper can be easily removed, disassembled, and stored in the truck cab behind the seat, as many truck owners do not like to permanently affix camper-type shells on their truck beds.

  • Patent number: 5347774
Abstract: Improved methods of fabricating at least partially curved staircases include a first method in which preformed step structures have treads with curved slots formed in the underside of the ends which define a path for insertion of top edge segments of thin starter strips. The slots are collectively configured to laterally deflect the inserted starter strips in a manner longitudinally conforming them to at least partially curved paths of the overall stringer structures in the completed staircase. The stringers are then laterally built up and completed by securing reinforcing structures to the side surfaces of the laterally deflected strips. A second method uses preformed cooperating treads and risers themselves as a form which defines an at least partially curved path for the stringers.

  • Patent number: 5345733
Abstract: A loading dock shelter with head pad assembly and hinge gap closure wherein reinforced side wing assemblies seal corner/hinge areas, as a truck/trailer backs into the loading dock, to thereby form a protective weather seal for the dock. Respective side wings for right and left portions of the shelter are cantilevered to set the wings outwardly of the door of the dock, when the dock is in use, thereby filling the gap between door jamb and truck/trailer open doors. Each attached side wing is thus extended outwardly to seal the gap between trailer and dock shelter. The semi-flexible nature of the wings permits each one to set itself against the inside of vehicular open doors, notwithstanding possible off-center positioning of the vehicle. This head pad assembly is so conformed that its effective life is extended over the norm.

  • Patent number: 5343887
Abstract: An elongated portable structure for the use as a tent or the like, having an end panel at each end. Each end panel comprises an annular hoop of flexible, resilient, strip material which can be reduced to a much smaller dimension by twisting. A sheet of substantially non-stretchable, flexible fabric in the space within each hoop is secured to the hoop so that the sheet is maintained taut and will resist collapse or distortion of the hoop. The end panels are maintained in generally upright position by at least one spreader rod extending between the end panels, and struts connected to the ends of the rod and attached to the respective end panels. A rigid force distributor may be attached to each strut to engage the sheet within each hoop. A flexible fabric cover with an opening extends between the end panels to provide shelter for a person or persons occupying the structure.
