Abstract: Copies of content no longer available from a network location can be generated using content cached by client devices that have accessed that location. A service provider who collects information as to the locations accessed by these devices can determine which devices might have at least some of the content still in cache memory or other such storage. Client devices having accessed that location can be contacted to obtain copies of the content previously available. A number of the copies are compared and inconsistent content removed in order to prevent the disclosure of personalized or customized content. A tree or other structure of the page can be analyzed to ensure that the page will display properly and that comparable content is compared. When a version is generated that includes only consistent content consistent, that version can be provided as an accurate archive copy.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for automatically changing the mode of download of a download manager in a device are provided. The download manager can send a timeout option to a TFTP server and automatically change the mode of download based on whether a timeout option acknowledgement is received. The download manager can include a first control attribute to enable or disable sending a timeout option to the TFTP server and/or a second control attribute to set the initial download mode of the device.

Abstract: An automated method for determining domain traffic including receiving at authoritative name server a request to resolve a domain name that has n labels separated by periods. The leftmost label is the first label and the top level domain is the nth label. If the first label of the received domain name includes the string “www”, then a www hit counter and/or a www requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented. If the received domain name has only two labels, then an exact hit counter and/or an exact requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented. If the first label of the received domain name does not include the string “www” and does not have only two labels, then another hit counter and/or another requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented. A domain traffic score is calculated based upon a plurality of the counters, and calculating the domain traffic score includes applying a weighting factor to at least one of the counters.
