Abstract: A self-adjusting crutch containing a central portion having both a fixed and a moveable central post, one of which nests within the other. A prepositionable height fastener cooperates with a coupling collar, both of which are disposed on the central portion to predetermine the amount of extension. When the fastener and coupler are in cooperation, the leg can be extended and retracted repeatedly the exact same distance.An improved hand grip is also disclosed.

Abstract: A playpen canopy for a playpen having elongated supporting members. The canopy includes a framework having elongated rods which extend generally alongside of the supporting members of the playpen, horizontal rods which are connected to the elongated rods, a sheet of flexible material which is attached to the horizontal rods for forming a roof for the playpen canopy and a plurality of connecting elements for releasably connecting the elongated rods of the canopy to the elongated supporting members of the playpen.

Abstract: An apparatus as set forth including an elongate flexible sling member, including an upper terminal end mounted to a support rod tip projecting coaxially of the support rod extending beyond an associated umbrella canopy. The lower terminal end of the sling is mounted to a lower terminal end of the support rod adjacent a handle of an associated umbrella structure. The sling member includes an adjusting sleeve defining a loop of the elongate sling member to effect elongate adjustment of the sling to permit securement of the associated umbrella about a torso portion of an associated individual transporting the umbrella. A modification of the invention includes the lower terminal end of the sling member wound about a spring-biased drum to retractably secure the sling member within a housing. Further, an elongate support web selectively secures a water repellent jacket within a cavity of the web, wherein the web is mounted to the support rod tip and a projecting canopy spine member of the associated canopy.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a support system for use in forming a temporary scaffolding such as a prefabricated scaffolding, a temporary system such as a panel support, or a structure such as a truss-type pillar, tower, etc. The support system comprises columnar members each provided with a plurality of flanges along the longitudinal direction thereof, connecting members each provided with joint shoes at both ends thereof, and wedges each driven into the joint shoe, the flanges each comprising a supporting piece along the circumferential direction thereof, the joint shoes each comprising a hollow housing having a pair of opposed wall bodies, and a hook loosely fitted movably in the housing, the wall bodies and the hook being provided with respective wedge insertion holes opposed to each other, and the hook being provided at an end portion thereof with a catch portion to be engaged with the supporting piece of the flange.

The strong outer skin conforms to the structural frame when placed under pressure and creates a lightweight composite structural system to protect the enclosure.

Abstract: Apparatus for providing over head shade protection to an operator of a lawn mower is set forth to include a plurality of spaced U-shaped mounds for securement to handles of an associated lawnmower wherein the mounds telescopingly are associated with support rods, the support rods pivotally mount at each respective end thereof first canopy rods wherein the first canopy rods movably receive U-shaped canopy sliders wherein the organization is formable into a conveniently stored organization and easily errected and secured to the associated lawn mower. Further, the invention includes a storage container secured to the canopy wherein the storage container provides a tethered pair of ear protective devices for use in association with a lawn mower.

Abstract: A walker that has wheels to facilitate its movement when it is not being relied upon as a primary means of support and that has brakes to hold said wheels against rotation when it is. The wheels are arranged in a tricycle configuration and brakes are associated with the two rear wheels. A pair of brake pads flank each wheel and are held into braking relation to each wheel by a pair of spring members, there being one spring for each brake, when little or no weight is applied to the walker by the user. The springs are compressed and the wheels are free to rotate when the weight of the user is applied to the walker. The user's forearms rest in padded armrests and hand grips are provided forwardly of those arm rests. The walker is adjustable in height and is foldable when not in use.

Abstract: An automatic umbrella includes a telescopic shaft having a lower outer tube telescopically mounted with an upper inner tube, a locking device pivotally formed in a grip and a lower portion of the central shaft having a single hook portion respectively engageable with two hook holes formed in a lower runner pivotally secured with a plurality of stretcher ribs of a rib assembly of the umbrella for locking a folded umbrella by engaging a lower hook hole in the lower runner with the hook portion of the locking device and for shielding the rib tips into the grip by engaging the hook portion with an upper hook hole of the lower runner, thereby stably locking the folded umbrella.

Abstract: The construction of an umbrella cover is provided wherein the periphery of the umbrella cover cloth is arranged to provide straight meshes. The umbrella cover construction can accommodate umbrella ribs which are arranged in either equal or unequal intervals therebetween. The construction of the cover cloth is arranged with the radially extending umbrella ribs disposed on the bias of the cloth and coupled to peripheral portions thereof, having straight edges extending therefrom which are substantially either parallel or orthogonal to the warp or weft of the cloth. Thus, the umbrella cover can be formed of a single piece of material, upon which a decorative pattern can easily be printed thereon, while still allowing the umbrella cover to be stretched, when the umbrella is opened, to form a curved surface.

Abstract: A tent with a tarpaulin comprising a plurality of lengths of fabric and a set of tent poles stretching out the tarpaulin and comprising a plurality of tent poles that can be fitted together, the tent poles forming two tension frames, namely a floor frame and a roof frame, which on the one hand stretch out the lengths of fabric of the tarpaulin and on the other are supported against one another in a statically defined manner by means of lengths of fabric and/or ropes. The floor frame stretches out a flat hollow body serving as the tent floor, while the roof frame stretches out the roof and wall region of the tent tarpaulin, this region being joined to the tent floor.

Abstract: A retaining wall is described using multiple pre-cast concrete block modules positioned in stacked horizontal rows with multiple vertical concrete columns which interlock each horizontal row. Each block, which is designed and manufactured to interlock with other like modules, includes a body having at least one vertical side, a leg connecting means attached to a vertical side, and a central passageway. In the preferred embodiment, a leg is attached to and extends laterally from the body with a compatible connecting means formed on the end surface of the leg which interconnects with a leg connecting means located on the body. An alignment means may be formed on the top and bottom surface of the body and used to align stacked block modules. During the wall's assembly, the modules are positioned side-by-side and interconnected in a horizontal row either on the ground or on a pre-constructed continuous concrete footing. End or corner block modules are used when desired.

Abstract: An improved fixture system for mounting a stair support truss to a module stair unit. U channel fixtures are secured to the collar and to the front base riser of a modular set of stairs. These fixtures are used to attach a truss support to the stair module; and, the truss support is itself modified to project upward a plurality of plane tenon supports so that they will engage U channel stair tread braces. In preparation for packaging and subsequent transportation, the collar and buttress fixtures are used as hard mounting points for bundles of the remaining stair support elements which are then banded thereto.

Abstract: A knock-down three dimensional rectangular frame is provided as well as an upstanding flexible material sleeve downwardly telescopingly engagable over the frame. The lower end of the sleeve is peripherally openable and removably closable and the upper and lower ends of sleeve include inwardly directed marginal flaps extending fully peripherally thereabout disposable over and under, respectively, the upper and lower ends of the skeletal frame. The sleeve is constructed of a material which may have a camouflaged design on its outer surface and which is preferably substantially air impervious.

Abstract: A circular base form is constructed from curved lengths of corugated steel bolted together and has apertured vertical brackets secured to the inside of the base form at spaced intervals around the inside of the form. Vertical anchor pins slide within the apertures of the brackets and are driven into the ground once the circular base form is positioned correctly. The upper edge of the base form is outwardly flanged horizontally and is successively leveled by transit or the like. As the sections are leveled, they are secured to the ground engaged anchor pins by ring bolts or the like until the entire form is leveled. Gravel and concrete is then poured into the form, preferably with reinforcing bars, mesh or the like and leveled flush with the top flange by means of screeding. When set, the lowermost wall section, the roof and then succeeding sections of the bin are assembled on the top flange of the base and are raised when each section is completed be means of a crane, hoist or the like.

This structure provides access to the interior and is most suitable for utilization as a mast of a sailing yacht, being lighter in weight than the standard masts yet being as structurally stable and flexible.

Abstract: A device to aid a person to stand up from a sitting position on a chair or the seat of a water closet is provided with a base panel that is cut out to interfit around the base of the water closet or support and hold an easy chair. Horizontal stop members in the form of a vertical hole through a block are attached on the top of the panel to receive the bottom ends of chair legs sitting on the top of the base panel. Two members, one on each side of the chair, inclined upwardly past the front of the chair, are attached to the base panel and supported at the front ends. A front section of the inclined member is a cantilever section to be gripped by the hands to facilitate rising from the chair. Rails are structurally attached to the inclined members extending forwardly proximate and below the front ends of the inclined members to allow the person to rise up, rest his or her hands on the rail members and begin walking away from the chair or seat.

Abstract: A portable aid for assisting an invalid or elderly person in rising from a sitting position includes a portable vertical support and a brace member attached and stored with the portable vertical support. The brace member extends away from the vertical support and has a dimension in the horizontal direction sufficient to extend across the seat of the chair to permit a sitting person to push downwardly upon the brace member for assistance in rising to a standing position.

Abstract: A roofing slab (1) is developed in the form of a dormer, having a tube connection socket (9) provided on its lower side and a cap-shaped hood provided on its upper side, the hood leaving air passage openings free. For simplified association of the tube connection socket, a plug-detent connection is provided between hood (2) and arms (St) of the roofing slab (1), the arms lying below the hood (2). An insertion opening (E) is provided in an inner space between the plug-detent means for receiving the tube connection socket (9) which is held by resting on the arms.
