  • Patent number: 6821168
Abstract: An outboard motor is provided with an internally contained cylinder and moveable piston. The piston is caused to move by changes in differential pressure between first and second cavities within the cylinder. By adding a hydraulic pump and a steering valve, the hydraulic steering system described in U.S. Pat. No. 6,402,577 is converted to a power hydraulic steering system by adding a hydraulic pump and a steering valve to a manual hydraulic steering system.

  • Patent number: 6811455
Abstract: The present invention includes a propshaft assembly that has a propshaft connected to a transmission and an axle and a center support that attaches the propshaft to a vehicle. The center support permits the propshaft to move vertically during operation of the vehicle. The present invention also includes a method for damping the natural bending resonance of a propshaft where the propshaft is connected to the underbody of a vehicle with a center support. The center support may be adapted to permit the propshaft to move vertically in response to vertical movement of an axle attached to the propshaft. Alternately, the center support may be adapted to selectively fix the vertical position of the propshaft when the propshaft is approaching its natural bending resonance frequency.

  • Patent number: 6805251
Abstract: A device (1) is provided for horizontal resetting to center for a central buffer coupling arranged pivotably by a coupling shaft (2) on a rail-borne vehicle. The device has a guide (3) following the pivoting movement of the coupling shaft (2) around its vertical pivot axis. The device has pressing surfaces (4) provided symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the coupling shaft (2), and has a pressing device (7), with parts supported against an articulated housing (5) for the coupling shaft and bringing about the horizontal resetting to center. The pressing device acts permanently or switches off or can be switched off depending on the pivot angle or can be actuated by a pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically operated actuating device. To facilitate especially the coupling in tight curves or to make it possible in the first place, the actuating device is designed as a remote-controllable adjusting drive (11).

  • Patent number: 6772705
Abstract: A device controlling the depth and motion of an object underwater by using a processor to accurately control the volume of gas within, and thereby the buoyancy, depth, and motion (rate of ascent and descent) of, a buoyancy chamber that is attached to the object. The device has a central component incorporating a processor and associated memory, the processor being in communication with: a buoyancy chamber and a means for measuring the volume or level of gas within, at least one gas control mechanism(s) to input and remove gas from the buoyancy chamber; a depth measuring sensor, a power source; a gas source, and an input device to instruct the processor. By manipulating the volume of gas within the buoyancy chamber, using the gas source and the at least one gas control mechanism(s), the processor is able to control the rate of ascent, rate of descent, level of buoyancy, and depth of itself and the object to which it is attached.

  • Patent number: 6772697
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement of service positions for maintenance apparatus, which can travel on a guide rail along a multiplicity of similar workstations on a first side of a textile machine, wherein a maintenance apparatus in a first service position at the elevation of a machine framing of the textile machine can be pivoted away from, or transversely withdrawn from the guide rail. Per side of the textile machine, at least two maintenance apparatuses are exclusively assigned thereto, whereby the guide rail on the first side, at least at one end of the textile machine, is elongated beyond the textile machine and a second service position is placed on the elongated guide rail. In this way, it becomes possible, with a large number of workstations to assure the shortest possible duration of a standstill, wherein in the case of a failure or preventive unkeep of one maintenance apparatus, another maintenance apparatus can serve a workstation in a short time.
