Patent number: 8135772Abstract: A number of approaches can be taken to improve the routing of client requests to business protocol destinations. In one such approach, a business servlet registers itself as a default servlet such that it receives any request not recognized by the system. In another embodiment, internal APIs can be used to route all messages to a business servlet, which can use internal APIs to redirect the request if the business servlet does not recognize the request. In another embodiment, filters can be used in conjunction with a lookup table containing address information to route requests to the proper destination. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2003Date of Patent: March 13, 2012Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventor: David Wiser

Patent number: 8103715Abstract: An approach for managing mobile agents in a network generally involves configuring a mobile agent in a secure manner such that the mobile agent will automatically terminate itself if the mobile agent cannot communicate with a specified entity before moving or the mobile agent cannot successfully communicate with a specified entity within a specified period of time. According to another embodiment, if a management process cannot communicate with a mobile agent within a specified period of time, then the management process attempts to cause the termination of the mobile agent. The management process may contact another management process that has the ability to terminate the mobile agent and request that other management process to cause the termination of the mobile agent. According to another embodiment, the management process may cause the creation and dispatch of a “hunter-killer” mobile agent configured to locate and cause the termination of other mobile agents.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2002Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth John Roberts

Patent number: 8028059Abstract: Distinctions between resources explicitly selected by a user and resources indirectly selected may be enabled by identifying an explicitly selected web page or other resource as such in the request for the web page or other resource, which may allow the web page or resource to be differentiated from web pages or other resources that are requested as a consequence of their indirect selection. Moreover, a log of web pages or other resources explicitly selected by a user may be maintained at the client and later reference by a local processor or communicated to a host process seeking to differentiate directly and indirectly selected web pages or other resources. These techniques also may allow a proxy or other server to perform processing related to parentally controlled accounts or related to accurately tracking frequently requested resources such as web pages.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2005Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: AOL Inc.Inventors: Eric O'Laughlen, W. Patent number: 7222161Abstract: Improved techniques for data delivery from a server machine to client machines through a network are disclosed. The techniques reduce the demands on connection bandwidth between the client machines and the network, and thus enable media-rich data to be delivered with reduced amounts of network bandwidth. The techniques also reduce the bandwidth demands on network servers and overall network infrastructure. According to one aspect, web pages (e.g., markup language documents) can be modified to cause local content to be used or at least preferred over remotely located content.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2001Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Inventors: Robert C. Patent number: 7054936Abstract: A computer network uplinking system, method, and computer program product are presented for allocation of network resources. A controller tier includes a controller node 100 having a processor 102, a memory 104, and a communication interface 106. Also, an uplinking tier includes uplinking nodes 108, with a processor 110, a memory 112, and a communication interface 114. The nodes 108 communicate the controller node 100 in frames. Current and next frames are represented as K and K+1. The nodes 108 request reservations from the controller node 100 based on the data each needs to transmit. The controller node 100 generates a control signal based on the reservation requests to assign slots of a information subframe of the next frame K+1 to the nodes 108 based on the priority allocated to the node 108 and the data each needs to transmit. The nodes 108 then transmit in their assigned slots.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2002Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: HRL Laboratories, LLCInventors: Tamer El Batt, Bong Ryu

Patent number: 7028098Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for supporting in a router a plurality of data flows using a ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) in which the number of accesses to write to the TCAM is optimized to improve efficiency of updating and subsequent look up. To accommodate the plurality of data flows, the TCAM is partitioned into at least two partitions in which a first portion includes indices having a higher priority and a second portion includes indices having a lower priority. For example, multiple protocol label switching (MPLS) flows and IP-Virtual Private Network (VPN) can be added to the first partition and policy based routing flows can be added to the second partition. During subsequent TCAM look-up of a prefix of an incoming packet the MPLS or IP-VPN flow will subsume any matching policy based routing flow, such as flows classified by an access control list or traffic manager flows.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2001Date of Patent: April 11, 2006Assignee: Nokia, Inc.Inventors: Ashutosh Mate, Atul Mahamuni, Vijay Chander
