  • Patent number: 8582280
Abstract: A foldable keyboard for a portable computer includes a keyboard body which comprises two keyboard pieces hinge-coupled by a hinge unit in order to be unfolded in a direction parallel to a keyboard plane. Another embodiment of the invention is a foldable keyboard, which includes: a guide unit at which a long hole is formed along its length; and a keyboard body which comprises two keyboard pieces hinge-coupled to the guide unit by a hinge unit. The keyboard pieces can be unfolded in a direction parallel to a keyboard plane into its extended state. As the keyboard pieces unfold, the hinge unit slides along the long hole as the keyboard edges, which are facing each other, are stuck together. Thus, the two keyboard pieces are hinge-coupled to each other to reverse their vertical and horizontal directions as the keyboard body is extended.

  • Patent number: 8502774
Abstract: To provide an input apparatus, a control apparatus, a control system, and a control method that are capable of restricting a movement of a pointer on a screen by a user operation even while the input apparatus is moving. In a state where a movement button is not pressed by a user, an MPU of an input apparatus is not outputting a movement command or is outputting a movement command with a displacement amount set to 0. In other words, even when the user holds the input apparatus and moves it, a pointer does not move on a screen. As a result, a movement of the pointer unintended by the user can be restricted. When the movement button is pressed, that is, when a first operation signal is input via a first switch, the MPU starts outputting the movement command. By receiving the movement command, an MPU of a control apparatus controls display of the pointer so as to start the movement of the pointer that corresponds to the movement command.

  • Patent number: 8502761
Abstract: The invention relates to a transparent component (100) comprising active members (10) that are juxtaposed in parallel to a surface of the component, and that are each switchable between a transparent state and a reflecting state. Each active member establishes a light path between a light passage opening and a side of the component when said active member is reflecting. An addressing system (2) further controls the switching of the active members so that a reduced number of active members is simultaneously reflecting. Therefore, an image formed by transparency through the component thus appears permanently and continuously. Such a transparent component can be used for making an image superimposition device and an image display and storage device.

  • Patent number: 8497832
Abstract: A flat panel display, a shift register with image retention release and method for releasing image retention are provided. An output end of the shift register couples to a gate line of a display panel. A first end of a first transistor couples to the output end of the shift register. A second end of the first transistor couples to a system voltage VDD or a reference voltage VSS. A first end of a capacitor couples to a control end of the first transistor. A second end of the capacitor couples to the reference voltage VSS. During a power-off period, the reference voltage VSS is pulled high for turning on the first transistor, therefore the voltage of the gate line is pulled high.

  • Patent number: 8467277
Abstract: An optical recording/reproducing device which minimizes the number of home-in operations to move a pickup to a predetermined reference position of a disc, and a method of controlling the same. The optical recording/reproducing device includes a pickup to record or reproduce information on or from a disc, a pickup movement motor to move the pickup along the disc, a main power supply controller to detect whether power is initially supplied so as to output a home-in control signal, and a drive controller to perform a home-in operation, only when power is initially supplied according to the home-in control signal of the main power supply controller. Since the home-in operation is performed only when power is initially supplied, the number of home-in operations is minimized.
