Abstract: A surgical gas delivery device includes a filter cartridge interface and a computer controlled control unit configured to control the circulation of surgical gas during endoscopic surgery. The control unit can operate in a plurality of different modes of operation. A tube set for connecting the surgical gas delivery device to one or more end effectors includes a filter cartridge in fluid communication with the tube set. The filter cartridge is seated in the filter cartridge interface of the surgical gas delivery device to communicate surgical gas between the surgical gas delivery device and the one or more end effectors. The surgical gas delivery device includes a reader operatively connected to receive input from a data carrying element of the tube set. The data carrying element, reader, and control unit can launch a specific one of the modes of operation when the filter cartridge is inserted.

  • Patent number: 11141573
Abstract: A device and method for intravascular treatment of atherosclerotic plaque prior to balloon angioplasty which microperforates the plaque with small sharp spikes acting as serrations for forming cleavage lines or planes in the plaque. The spikes may also be used to transport medication into the plaque. The plaque preparation treatment enables subsequent angioplasty to be performed at low balloon pressures of about 4 atmospheres or less, reduces dissections, and avoids injury to the arterial wall. The subsequent angioplasty may be performed with a drug-eluting balloon (DEB) or drug-coated balloon (DCB). The pre-angioplasty perforation procedure enables more drug to be absorbed during DEB or DCB angioplasty, and makes the need for a stent less likely. Alternatively, any local incidence of plaque dissection after balloon angioplasty may be treated by applying a thin, ring-shaped tack at the dissection site only, rather than applying a stent over the overall plaque site.

  • Patent number: 11141351
Abstract: The present invention relates to a syringe, and more particularly, to an apparatus obtained by improving an conventional syringe formed with an injection flow passage including an injection needle, so as to share a portion of the injection flow passage except the injection needle or to form a suction flow passage completely independent of the injection flow passage, thereby further smoothing suction of a liquid medicine. The syringe is configured such that the separate suction flow passage bypassing the injection needle is formed in an conventional syringe to more smoothly perform the suction of the liquid medicine, thereby maximizing user's convenience and marketability of the product.

  • Patent number: 11135361
Abstract: A method includes providing microvalve device having inner and outer catheters, and a filter valve attached to the distal end of the inner and outer catheters. Longitudinal displacement of the inner catheter relative to the outer catheter moves the filter valve from a non-deployed configuration to a deployed configuration. With the inner catheter longitudinally advanced a first amount relative to the outer catheter, the filter valve is in a reduced first diameter for advancement of a guidewire to a target location. Once the filter valve reaches the target location, the inner catheter is moved relative to the outer catheter such that the filter valve assumes a larger second diameter. A therapeutic agent is infused through the inner catheter and beyond the filter valve.

  • Patent number: 11135404
Abstract: A safety catheter needle having a cannula removably inserted in a catheter and associated with a cannula holder is provided. The cannula has a proximal extremity attached to the cannula holder and a distal extremity close to a deformed part, with provision for a protection device associated with the catheter holder movably containing the cannula and moving within the catheter holder when the cannula is drawn out from the catheter. The protection device has a principal body containing a moving body rotating about an axis (M) at right angles to a longitudinal axis (W) of the cannula and capable of interacting with a fixed part of the catheter holder—while the cannula is being drawn out, bringing about rotation of the rotating moving body within the principal body and immobilizing the distal extremity of the cannula within the former.

  • Patent number: 11129791
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include devices, compositions and methods for the controlled release of therapeutic substances, such as drugs. Control over the rate of release of the therapeutic substances from the devices is achieved by the use of nanoporous membranes in which the pore size is matched to the molecular diameter of the therapeutic substances. Some embodiments of the invention achieve zero-order release by the use of membranes with a pore diameter that is more than five times the Stokes' diameter of the therapeutic substance released.
