  • Patent number: 8880677
Abstract: Targeted content may be provided to a designated set of one or more interconnected resources. Programmatic operations are executed using resources that are private to the one or more interconnected devices. The operations, when executed, cause or result in (i) monitoring activities of one or more users of the designated set; (ii) developing profile information of the one or more users, where the profile information is based at least partially on information determined from monitoring activities of the one or more users; (iii) generating, from the profile information, a set of coded data that represent selection criteria; and (iv) communicating the set of coded data to a programmatic source external to the system, where the represented selection criteria enables programmatic selection of content resources from a content library for the system.

  • Patent number: 8844010
Abstract: Product order and shipping information received via email messages is automatically aggregated for ready user review. Once the user is authenticated, authorization to access their email mailbox is obtained and the email message headers of their mails are analyzed to identify those messages of interest. The bodies of the email messages of interest are parsed to extract the product order and shipping information which is stored and presented for display to the user typically grouped by individual product thus greatly simplifying user review of orders.

  • Patent number: 8769302
Abstract: A method, computer-readable storage medium, and computer system are provided. In an embodiment, in response to receiving a first command that specifies first data, a first cryptographic key, and a column identifier that identifies a column of rows in a database, the first data is encrypted into encrypted data using the first cryptographic key. The encrypted data is stored to a first row in the column in the database. In response to the receiving the first command, characterization data is created that specifies valid contents of the column of the rows. In response to receiving a query command that specifies a second cryptographic key and the column, the column is decrypted using the second key to create decrypted data. If the decrypted data does not satisfy the valid contents specified by the characterization data, an invalid cryptographic key action is performed.

  • Patent number: 8745376
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs for verifying a digital signature are disclosed. The verifier accesses an implicit certificate and a digital signature provided by the signer. The implicit certificate includes a first elliptic curve point representing a public key reconstruction value of the signer. The verifier accesses a second elliptic curve point representing a pre-computed multiple of the certificate authority's public key. The verifier uses the first elliptic curve point and the second elliptic curve point to verify the digital signature. The verifier may also use a third elliptic curve point representing a pre-computed multiple of a generator point. Verifying the digital signature may provide verification that the implicit certificate is valid.

  • Patent number: 8639837
Abstract: Packets received at a network appliance are classified according to a packet classification rules based on flow state information maintained by the network appliance and evaluated for each packet as it is received at the appliance on the basis of OSI Level 2-Level 4 (L2-L4) information retrieved from the packet. The received packets are acted upon according to outcomes of the classification; and the flow state information is updated according to actions taken on the received packets. The updated flow state information is then made available to modules performing additional processing of one or more of the packets at OSI Layer 7 (L7).

  • Patent number: 8630417
Abstract: A method of operating by a second processing unit a content recorded by a first processing unit, said first and second processing units having a specific key being managed by a central server. The processing units have access to a removable storage memory intended to record a content ciphered by a content key accompanied by a file associated to the content. The content key is produced by means of a cascaded deciphering starting from the specific key of the first unit of at least two constants provided by the central server and a variable. The content is restored by the second processing unit by means of a cascaded deciphering starting from the specific key of the second unit by using the constants and the variable stored in the file accompanying the content and a transcoding key calculated by the central server.

  • Patent number: 8631068
Abstract: A peer-based communications service is provided in which linking relationships between members and topics of interest and the properties of members and topics of interest are represented by links in a links table. Each row in the links table corresponds to a link. Each row contains an association portion and a descriptive attribute portion. Link associations are used to associate member and topic objects to each other and are used to associate a member or topic with a property of that member or topic. The descriptive attributes include privacy settings that are used to restrict access to content in the service. Members may be related to each other as friends, friends of friends, or through other relationships. The privacy settings may be used to restrict viewing of links and properties to appropriate members.

  • Patent number: 8615591
Abstract: A technique for automatically terminating a session between a client and server in a communication network where the client fails to explicitly terminate the session. A client associated with the session is monitored to determine if a condition exists that warrants terminating the session between the client and the server. If a condition exists that warrants terminating the session, a check is performed to determine if the client has notified the server that the session is to be terminated. If not, the server is automatically notified that the session is to be terminated.

  • Patent number: 8611530
Abstract: A method for encrypting data is provided. The method includes formatting data represented in a weighted number system into data blocks. The method also includes converting the data blocks into a residue number system representation. The method further includes generating a first error generating sequence and inducing errors in the data blocks after converting the data blocks into a residue number system representation. It should be understood that the errors are induced in the data blocks by using the first error generating sequence. After inducing errors into the data blocks, the data of the data blocks is formatted into a form to be stored or transmitted. The method also includes generating a second error generating sequence synchronized with and identical to the first error generating sequence and correcting the errors in the data blocks using an operation which is an arithmetic inverse of a process used in inducing errors.

  • Patent number: 8572223
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a distributed processing system for implementing different business function applications. A plurality of common utility systems which provide for performing different operations can be utilized by different event manager modules which operate to implement the different business function application. The development and implementation of new business function applications can be streamlined by using the common utility systems across a number of different event manager modules which implement different business function applications. Additionally, various event manager modules, and event templates within the event manager modules can operate in a recursive manner to generate responses to events, which then generate subsequent events and subsequent responses between the event manager modules and their event templates.
