Abstract: A method of male contraception utilizing external pressure applied to the underside of the penis at the base thereof to close the urethral canal and thereby prevent the escape of semen. Apparatus comprises a pressure pad which applies a concentrated force on the canal and is held in place by a strap member around the penis.
Abstract: A flexible mat having a plurality of protruding members and a plurality of apertures is agitated by pressure pulsation in a stream of highly turbulent mixture of water/air which is applied to the back surface of the mat. As pressure pulses swell and subside in alternation, the protruding members are caused to manipulate the user's body producing a stimulating, therapeutic massage effect. Simultaneously, the water/air mixture is forced through the apertures of the mat producing a turbulent bath having a high proportion of air bubble content which further manipulates and massages the user's body.
Abstract: A device for controlling urinary incontinence in female patients. The device includes a body section for being inserted completely into the vagina. The body section includes a circumferential surface therearound for being gripped by the walls of the vagina for restricting the relative movement therebetween. A protruding section is rigidly attached to the body section and is oriented for displacing a surface of the superior wall of the vagina, and the urethra adjacent thereto, toward the pubic bone, thereby reducing the urethro-vesicle angle for further restricting the flow of urine through the urethra from the bladder to the urethral opening.
Abstract: This hydraulic apparatus for body care, notably buccal care, and for supplying a liquid to a hand appliance, comprises a casing enclosing a pump and power means for driving the pump. The pump input is connected via a valved coupling to the bottom of the detachable reservoir containing the liquid, and the pump output is connected via a hose to the hand appliance. The valved coupling comprises a movable valve member having a flat annular valve surface adapted to engage a registering flat annular seat consisting of the marginal portion of an opening formed in the bottom of the reservoir, when the latter is removed from the casing. Spring means constantly urge the valve member to its seated position.
Abstract: The combination of a pressure-switch operated vibrating motor, enclosed within a cushioning material, such as synthetic or natural foam, having an enlarged surface area relative to that of the motor. As a person applies pressure on said enlarged cushioning means, as by leaning on the cushion, the pressure switch is engaged to close a circuit thereby starting the vibrating motor enclosed within the cushioning means. The cushioning means acts as a damping means for the vibrating motor for greater comfort than would otherwise occur if the vibrating motor were not so enclosed.
Abstract: Apparatus for coupling to a flotation support system as, for example, a water mattress or the like, for purposes of effecting periodic oscillations of said system. The apparatus comprises an expandable and collapsible air bladder, which is positioned beneath the system in force transmitting relationship therewith. An air pumping means is connected in a pneumatic circuit with the air bladder so as to pressurize the bladder and expand same against the overlying support system. Means are provided for periodically venting the pneumatic circuit and air bladder to atmosphere, in consequence of which the bladder collapses under the weight of the overlying system; and thereupon expands following the venting. The resultant expansions and contractions of the bladder thereby effect the desired oscillations of the system.
