  • Patent number: 4723578
Abstract: A steam generator tube repair assembly employs a stud having a shaft and a head which forms a transverse sealing surface. A driver wedge has a central axial bore for receiving the shaft and a generally frustoconical exterior surface for receiving a sealing sleeve. The sealing sleeve has a circumferentially extending sealing surface and an end surface which is adapted for sealing engagement with the sealing surface of the stud head. A coupling nut is tightened to force the driver wedge to swage the sealing sleeve for radial sealing engagement and also transverse sealing engagement. The driver wedge and or the sealing sleeve are formed of shape memory materials so that at a temperature below a transition temperature the diametral dimensions of the sealing sleeve are reduced and at a temperature above the transition temperature the diametral dimensions of the sealing sleeve are expanded into sealing engagement with the tube.

  • Patent number: 4716605
Abstract: A hydrotherapy system is provided including a hydrotherapy tub with a water circulation pump and motor. Electrical proximity sensor terminals are mounted to the tub on the outside surface, one at a relatively low level for detecting the presence of water in the tub and a second preferably at a higher level for detecting the presence of the user to serve as an "on" and "off" switch which the user can operate by placing his hand in proximity therewith. Neither of the terminals requires physical contact to be actuated. Each is connected to circuit means for establishing the presence of an object in proximity with it and each of the terminals is operatively connected to the pump motor so that the pump motor will operate only when both of the terminals are actuated.

  • Patent number: 4694865
Abstract: The invention relates to a conduit for the transport of liquid and/or gaseous media or suspensions, comprising at least one media pipe and at least one envelope. The media pipe is arranged so as to be axially displaceable inside the envelope or envelopes on sliding parts under formation of an air gap separating the envelope from the media pipe. The sliding parts are held at the joints of the individual elements of the envelope. They preferably extend by a radially outer segment between the elements of the envelope and form a support for the media pipe together with a radially inner segment. A single annular sliding part is preferably inserted in each joint of the elements of the envelope. In the case of an annular sliding part without a segment extending between the elements of the envelope, the part is conveniently pushed outward by self-tensioning due to the elasticity of its shape.

  • Patent number: 4625765
Abstract: In an embodiment shown, the plug comprises a body having a central, threaded bore in which is received the threaded shank of a nosepiece. Jaws are slidably engaged with a ramp surface of the nosepiece for effecting a gripping engagement with the inner surface of a tube to be sealed. The body has an abutment formed thereon against which to receive a compression washer and a plurality or O-ring seals interleaved with other compression washers. The shank of the nosepiece is threadedly movable extensibly from and retractably toward the body by use of a wrench engageable with a hexagonal recess formed in the body-engaging end of the shank. As the nosepiece is retracted, the jaws slide along, and expand upon, the ramp surface. The O-ring seals and compression washers set against the abutment of the body, as noted, and an internally-threaded nut is threadedly engaged with an externally-threaded end of the body which is opposite the nosepiece.

  • Patent number: 4625342
Abstract: This is a device for dispersing a vapor, such as a deodorant or fragrant vapor, into the air when a movable element, such as the actuation arm of a flush toilet, is moved from a usual `at rest` position. A switch responsive to movement of the movable element from its `at rest` position closes a circuit which energizes an electrically actuated means, such as a motor or a solenoid operated lever, which when actuated opens the valve of a container from which a vapor of a deodorant or fragrance is dispersed under pressure. The device is particularly adapted for dispersing a deodorant into the air in a bathroom or lavatory when the toilet therein is flushed.

  • Patent number: 4583698
Abstract: The continuous paper web, unwound from a feeding roll, is first passed through a perforation station to generate pre-established tear-off lines and then through a severing station where it is severed into sheets of the desired length. From the severing station, the web is advanced to the winding station, to which the cardboard cores supported at their ends by two idle mandrels are also supplied. The winding station is defined by two endless belts diverging from each other in the direction of the outlet from this station and moved at different speeds. At the inlet of the winding station, the cardboard cores are rotated by said belts, whereby the length of paper web advanced to said station by the lower belt is wound onto one of said cores. The so-formed roll is transferred to a discharge station, where it is released by disengaging the mandrels from the ends thereof. The two free mandrels are then transferred to a loading station where they pick up a new cardboard core.

  • Patent number: 4569669
Abstract: Drive units for effecting torque-transmission via a non-rotating sealing tube are provided for various fields of use where a positive sealing is required for a shaft that passes through an aperture (e.g. a propeller shaft transmission). The shaft (4), rotatable about an axis (5), is freely mounted in a bearing bush in an aperture (3) in a wall (2) of a housing (1) that can take many forms. The other end of the shaft (4) is located in a blind-bearing. An intermediate eccentric portion (6) is provided on the shaft, which passes through an eccentric aperture (8) in a main eccentric. A non-rotating sealing tube (7) passes through this aperture, surrounding the portion (6), and is sealed by diaphragms, bellows or flexible hoses extending from each end to the related end of the shaft, where a static seal is formed.
