  • Patent number: 8232947
Abstract: To suppress a malfunction of a circuit due to deterioration in a transistor. In a transistor which continuously outputs signals having certain levels (e.g., L-level signals) in a pixel or a circuit, the direction of current flowing through the transistor is changed (inverted). That is, by changing the level of voltage applied to a first terminal and a second terminal (terminals serving as a source and a drain) every given period, the source and the drain are switched every given period. Specifically, in a portion which successively outputs signals having certain levels (e.g., L-level signals) in a circuit including a transistor, L-level signals having a plurality of different potentials (L-level signals whose potentials are changed every given period) are used as the signals having certain levels.

  • Patent number: 8228358
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for displaying an image to a viewer with reduced visual artifacts. The apparatus comprises a display panel for forming the image using an array of pixels with distributed active regions, and a viewing arrangement optically situated between the display panel and the viewer for transferring the image formed on the display panel to the viewer with limited angular pixel subtense. The distributed active regions of the pixels are desirably divided into at least two simultaneously switched portions at least partly separated by or surrounding a significant portion of the non-switchable region. First order spatial harmonics and associated artifacts are reduced by the distributed apertures and second order and higher harmonics are reduced by limiting the pixel subtense angle seen by the viewer. A significant reduction in visual artifacts arising from the periodic structure of the display panel is obtained.

  • Patent number: 8212744
Abstract: In a particular embodiment, a see-through display includes a screen having transparent layer of material with a front side and a back side. At least one plurality of shaped louver members is disposed between the front side and the back side. The plurality of the louver members allow transmission of a fraction of light through the screen with minimum scattering within a range of incident angles. The plurality of the louvers also redirect image signal light from an image source into a range of angles centered about a normal to the screen. The louver members combine the image signal light with the light emitted from background objects located on the backside of the screen. The background image light is transmitted through the display screen with minimal scattering. For embodiments providing two sets of louver members, the image signal light may be redirected to observers on either side of the screen, such that the observers may see each other as well as the intended image.

  • Patent number: 8169429
Abstract: The object of the present invention is reducing power consumption of a driving power supply circuit. In the case where the driving voltage Vi is higher than the reference voltage ViH, The signal S3P, S3N of the differential amplifier 30P, 30N become level “L” concurrently, and the signal S4P, S4N of the output circuit 40P, 40N become level “H”. Subsequently, the NMOS 62 becomes on-state and decreases the driving voltage Vi of the node N6. At the above stage, the control signal CP becomes level “L”, then the operation of the constant current circuit 20P is halted.
