  • Patent number: 5305657
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for use in a vehicle having an engine driven transmission which includes a plurality of gear ratios. The apparatus includes a sensor adapted to sense a parameter indicative of vehicle speed and responsively produce a vehicle speed signal. A downshift switch is provided to controllably produce a downshift signal. An engine speed sensor senses engine speed and responsively produces an engine speed signal. A controller is adapted to receive the vehicle speed, engine speed, and downshift signals, process the vehicle speed signal to produce a transmission control signal, produce a down shift enable value as a function of the engine speed signal, and modify the transmission control signal to correspond to a lower gear ratio in all but the lowest gear ratio when the downshift signal is received and a value responsive to the vehicle speed signal is less than the down shift enable value signal.

  • Patent number: 4955852
Abstract: A planetary gear mechanism including a rotating shaft having a splined end portion, a sun gear splined at a free end of the splined end portion, planetary gears engaging the sun gear, a carrier for rotatably supporting the planetary gears, a ring gear engaging the planetary gears, a clutch for connecting the rotating shaft and the carrier. The clutch has a first rotary member splined on the splined end portion of the rotating shaft such that the first rotary member is adjacent to the sun gear at the free end of the shaft, a first friction member rotatable with the first rotary member, a second rotary member rotatable with the carrier, and a second friction member rotatable with the second rotary member. The first and second friction member frictionally engage each other to transmit power therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4653346
Abstract: In a transmission for use in a motor vehicle is provided a transmission shaft having driven and driving gears on opposite ends thereof. Engine power is fed to the transmission shaft via the driven gear and then transmitted from the shaft to a final reduction-gear assembly via the driving gear. The transmission shaft is supported by first and second bearings radially and axially, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4094118
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the fabrication of a vertical block wall section. A vertical wall section is formed by conveying a row of blocks from a first conveyor belt to a second conveyor belt, elevating the row of blocks on the second conveyor belt until it is in contact with a wall section held vertically above the second conveyor belt, and holding the wall section with the additional row in elevated position while the second conveyor belt is lowered to receive a further row. After formation of a wall section of a given predetermined height, a wheeled pallet is moved onto a track on the second conveyor belt to a position below the elevated wall section. The pallet is then elevated by the second conveyor belt into engagement with the elevated wall section, the hold for the wall section is released, the pallet is lowered to an original position, and the wall section disposed on the pallet is moved to a position vertically displaced from the second conveyor means.

  • Patent number: 3979873
Abstract: A plurality of telescopic triangular cross sectioned booms slide within one another so that they can be extended and retracted and they are adapted to support conduits for pumping concrete or other material from one location to another. Angulated flanged corner constructions support the booms for sliding movement one with the other and in one embodiment, wheeled trolleys or bogeys are secured to the corners to reduce the frictional load between adjacent boom sections.
