Abstract: A method and a device are disclosed, whereby the device can be a first electronic device. The first electronic device is adapted to be coupled to a second electronic device. The method comprises outputting, with the first device, a request to communicatively couple with a second device in response to a gesture performed with the first device. The second electronic device and method of operating it are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for addressing message recipients is disclosed, including enabling a user to select a project, displaying recipients related to the selected project, wherein each recipient has at least one address, and enabling the user to select individual recipients to add their addresses to a recipients field of the message. The method may further include selecting a group related to the message, wherein the group includes at least one member arranged in an order based on their respective roles within the selected group and wherein the members have at least one address, displaying the at least one of members according to the arrangement, and enabling a user to select a member of the group to add the member's address to the recipients field of the message.

Abstract: In a method, system, and computer-readable medium having instructions for a reverse benefits designer, one or more objects available for creating a plan design framework are displayed in a graphical user interface, an indication of an object from the one or more objects selected for placement in a hierarchy of the plan design framework depicted on the graphical user interface is received, and data is stored in a repository for the plan design framework in accordance with the object placement.

Abstract: A plurality of icons are displayed on a companion device having a touch screen interface; the icons can be manipulated by the touch screen interface, and each of the plurality of icons represents a different one of a plurality of audiovisual assets which can be viewed on an external audiovisual device. An input gesture on the touch screen interface is obtained from a user of the companion device, wherein a given one of the icons is flicked in a manner associated with the external audiovisual device. Responsive to the obtaining of the gesture, a signal is dispatched from the companion device. The signal causes the external audiovisual device to access a given one of the plurality of audiovisual assets associated with the given one of the icons. Techniques for other than touch screen devices, and techniques to obtain programs on the companion device, are also provided.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing introductory content before presentation of primary content. The introductory content engages the user's attention while the primary content is prepared for presentation and may improve the user experience. User input responsive to the introductory content may be used to indicate a point of interest within the primary content. Subsequent presentation of the primary content may begin at the point of interest or a point based at least in part on the point of interest.

A room selection screen for selection of a room where the unregistered first subject device is installed, is displayed on a display. The unregistered first subject device is associated with a first room and managed as a registered first subject device, based on selection of the first room from the room selection screen. A room list screen including a first room icon representing the first room is generated, and displayed on the display.

Abstract: Techniques for remote application access are described. Some embodiments provide access to an application executing on a host system via a Web browser of a client device. A user operating the Web browser may request access to the application via a uniform resource identifier. A service executing on the host system receives the request and facilitates access to the application. Facilitating access may include transmitting to the Web browser image data corresponding to a window or graphical user interface generated by the application and stored on the host system. Client logic executing within the Web browser receives the image data and displays a local copy of the application window on the client device. The client logic also forwards user input events made with respect to the to the local window to the remote presentation service, which in turn forwards the events to the window/application on the host system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a message display method. In the display method, a first message is received, a second message on a current display interface is detected and one or more messages between the first message and the second message are hidden. Abstract: A first user interface is displayed on an electronic device. The first user interface is associated with a first internal node of a content hierarchy, and includes a context region, a header region comprising information identifying the first internal node, and a child-node region comprising one or more selectable identifiers that correspond to one or more child nodes of the first internal node. A selection of a respective child-node identifier is detected. In response, a transition to a second user interface associated with the respective child node is displayed. The transition comprises, while maintaining display of the one or more selectable labels in the context region, moving the respective child-node identifier upward toward the header region, and updating the context region by transforming the information identifying the first internal node into a selectable label identifying the first internal node as an ancestor node of the respective child node.

Abstract: Systems and techniques to provide access to shared content are disclosed. In various embodiments, a user input indicating a set of selected sharing users that have shared content with a viewing user is received via a filter definition user interface. A combined set of shared content comprising content that has been shared with the viewing user by one or more sharing users included in said set of selected sharing users is determined based at least in part on the indication. A display is provided that includes for at least a subset of shared content in the combined set a user-selectable visual representation of the shared content.

Abstract: Defining a presentation format targetable to a demographic by distributing a questionnaire to a terminal connected to a distributed computer network for interactive presentation to a representative in order to elicit selections from the representative, obtaining selections in response to any such interaction, determining preferences based on the selections using code executing in a processor, including positive preferences concerning affirmative selections in response to the interaction with the questionnaire, negative preferences from un-preferred selections in response to the interaction with the questionnaire, or both. The determined preferences are transformed into an integrated passcode using the processor so as to be representative of the selections, the passcode being a representation of the determined preferences for use in defining the presentation format and is used to establish presentation parameters in a message that is delivered over the network to the demographic.

Abstract: A device displays a user interface that includes a plurality of application icons. While displaying the user interface, the device detects an input that a contact at a location that corresponds to an application icon associated with an application. In response to detecting the input: when an intensity of the contact does not meet an intensity threshold, the device launches the application and replaces display of the user interface that includes the plurality of application icons with a user interface of the application; and when the characteristic intensity of the contact meets the intensity threshold, the device concurrently displays a content object and an affordance that is associated with the content object. The content object includes content automatically selected from the application based on a current context of the electronic device. Abstract: A device displays a user interface that includes a content area and a deletion control. The device detects an input that includes a contact on the deletion control. In response, the device deletes content in the content area based on a duration and intensity of the contact, including: when the contact was maintained for a first time period without the intensity increasing above a threshold, deleting a first-type of sub-units of the content at a rate that does not vary based on the intensity; when the contact was maintained for a second time period without the intensity increasing above the threshold, deleting a second-type of sub-units of the content at a rate that does not vary based on the intensity; and when the intensity of the contact increased above the threshold, deleting sub-units of the content at a rate that varies based on the characteristic intensity of the contact.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of providing a user with a customized user interface is disclosed. One example may include generating a window display area based on at least one predefined user preference, and displaying the window display area in a specified location of the user. The method may also include prompting the user to select at least one particular application that may be associated with the window display area, and prompting the user to customize the window attributes by modifying the window display area. Other operations may include saving the customized window display area in a memory of a computing device once the user has completed the customizing of the window attributes.

Abstract: An interface is provided for permitting a user to explore a collection of data. The data collection provides nodes as structural elements, and references which are assigned to the nodes and hold identifiers of other nodes. Multiple references can be assigned to each node, thus guiding a user of the system to multiple other nodes, and multiple references can hold the same address, so that multiple nodes can have references pointing to the same node. The interface allows visualizing the network created by the interconnection of the nodes on a display region. The interface also allows the user to intuitively navigate along the references in both directions of the references, so that the user can explore which nodes are referenced by a certain node, and also by which nodes a certain node is referenced.
