  • Patent number: 10937556
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, and specifically to sealed inlets of electrical circuits into a sealed area of a multi-layered containment shell of a nuclear power station. This design can be used in passages through an external and an internal wall which are subject to relative mutual displacement as a consequence of a seismic phenomenon or thermal expansion of the walls and passage. The problem addressed by the present invention is that of increasing the operating reliability of a sealed cable inlet when high-voltage electrical conductors which have little bending capacity are used. The problem addressed is achieved in that the sealed cable inlet through an external and an internal wall of a containment shell of a nuclear power station comprises an embedded pipe (3) which is arranged in the internal wall (1), with an inlet section (44) of a cable (2) fixed rigidly within said pipe.

  • Patent number: 10923237
Abstract: Debris filters fit in fuel assembly lower tie plates and filter fluids passing therethrough. Filters use a series of adjacent plates with aligned peaks and valleys to create several channels. The plates have small excisions in diamond, triangle, or other debris-catching shapes, such as near a lower portion of the filter where fluid enters the filter. Excisions may alternate around each channel, such as four alternating cut-outs in 90-degree intervals about a channel circumference. Excisions may be sized to entrap smaller debris common in reactor coolant flow and liable for fretting damage to fuel cladding. Multiple vertical stages can be used in filters, with different channels for each stage. Ligaments may hold each stage to the next, potentially with a gap between stages for intermixing. Plates, peaks, valleys, ligaments, and excisions may all be formed in a single stamping operation to eliminate excess or overlapping pieces or extensions.

Abstract: Control rod drives include all-digital monitoring, powering, and controlling systems for operating the drives. Each controlling system includes distinct microprocessor-driven channels that independently monitor and handle control rod drive position information reported from multiple position sensors per drive. Controlling systems function as rod control and information systems with top-level hardware interfaced with nuclear plant operators other plant systems. The top-level hardware can receive operator instructions and report control rod position, as well as report errors detected using redundant data from the multiple sensors. Positional data received from each drive is multiplexed across plural, redundant channels to allow verification of the system using independent position data as well as operation of the system should a single channel or detector fail.

  • Patent number: 10902960
Abstract: Arrangement for supporting U-bend tube sections in the high heat environment of steam generators using flat bars. The invention uses a combination of thicker and thinner flat bars to impart a serpentine path to the arc of the normally curvilinear U-tubes. The support system accommodates the dilation and contraction of coolant tubes and other elements caused by the extreme and varying conditions inside a steam generator, and which can cause gaps between coolant tubes and prior art tube support bars. Bars of alternating thickness provide alternating offsets to tensionally push and support each tube on multiple sides and in multiple locations, and this tension keeps the tubes in contact with at least some flat bars on multiple sides regardless of size and shape changes. Support arrangement includes a set of fan bars, each fan bar including thick and thin flat bars projecting up and out from a collector bar.

  • Patent number: 10867715
Abstract: Apparatus for radioisotope production includes housing, a plurality of target disks inside the housing and a curved windows positioned convex inward toward the disks. During operation, coolant flows though the housing across the disks and windows while electron beams passes through the window and the disks. The window temperature increases, rising the fastest in the middle of the window where the electron beam hits the window. A flat window would buckle because the center would deform during thermal expansion against the relatively unaffected periphery, but the curved window shape allows the window to endure high thermal and mechanical stress created by a combination of heating from the electron beam(s) and elevated pressure from coolant on the inside of the window. Such a window may be used for applications in which a pressurized coolant acts on only one side of the window.
