Abstract: The MULTI-SOURCE, MULTI-DIMENSIONAL, CROSS-ENTITY, MULTIMEDIA ANALYTICAL MODEL SHARING DATABASE PLATFORM APPARATUSES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS (“AMSDB”) transform data aggregated from various computer resources using AMSDB components into updated entity profiles and/or social graphs. In one implementation, the AMSDB aggregates data records including search results, purchase transaction data, service usage data, service enrollment data, and social data. The AMSDB identifies data field types within the data records and their associated data values. From the data field types and their associated data values, the AMSDB identifies an entity. The AMSDB generates correlations of the entity to other entities identifiable from the data field types and their associated data values. The AMSDB also associates attributes to the entity by drawing inferences related to the entity from the data field types and their associated data values.

Abstract: An approach is provided for a more efficient and user friendly mechanism for determining and presenting status updates associated with elements in a media item. The approach includes a method for processing and/or facilitating a processing of one or more media items to determine one or more elements present in the one or more media items. The method further includes determining a current status information associated with the one or more elements. The method also includes causing, at least in part, a presentation of one or more representations of the current status information.

Abstract: A system for synchronizing states in associated for data records has been developed. The system includes a first data repository (R1) containing a first data record (DR1) and a second data repository (R2) containing a second data record (DR2). The system also includes a synchronizer that initiates synchronization activity between DR1 and DR2. Upon change in DR1, the system generates a listing of all possible target states for DR2 and determines the correct target state of DR2 from the listing of possible target states. The system then determines if DR2 is in the correct target state. If not, the system transitions DR2 to the correct target state, and synchronizes the data of DR2 with DR1.

Abstract: A programmable logic circuit assigns a value to an outlet of a power distribution unit (PDU) that comprises a power source at an input of the PDU and at least one light-emitting diode (LED) associated with the outlet. The programmable logic circuit sends the value to a program on a hardware device that comprises one or more power supplies. The programmable logic circuit receives information from the program. Subsequently, an illumination state of the LED is modified based on the information.

Abstract: Various embodiments may be generally directed to techniques and an apparatus to generate a plurality of rate indices from the historical rate information for one or more products, each of the rate indices associated with a different lead time, and determine a rate index from the plurality of rate indices associated with an optimal lead time based on a maximum correlation between the rate index and a reputation index, the reputation index based on the historical reputation information for the one or more products. In addition, a multiple linear regression model comprising one or more parameters may be generated using the rate index, the reputation index, and one or more indicator values, the multiple linear regression model may be used to determine a reputation impacted rate for a product.

Abstract: A method for storing XML data into a relational database, including the following steps: splitting an XML Schema into one or more mapping configuration files, each mapping configuration file corresponding to a relational database table; parsing an XML text, and according to the associative relationship in the mapping configuration files, inserting the data in the XML text into the multiple relational database tables; and accessing the database to read the data in the XML text. The method stores XML file data into a relational database, and accelerates data reading and access speed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presenting a search result. The method comprises: receiving a current search term input by a user; determining user information about a user, and determining a pre-established first model corresponding to the user according to user information, the first model recording historical data of the user, and the historical data comprising a historical search term and a corresponding historical selection result; determining, in the historical data, a historical search term matched with the current search term, determining a historical selection result corresponding to the matched historical search term, and determining an online recommendation result according to the historical selection result; and presenting a search result to the user, the search result comprising the online recommendation result or a result obtained by processing the online recommendation result. The disclosed method can provide a personalized search service, so that the search result better meets the user's needs.

Abstract: An apparatus for setting up a specialized personal electronic assistant on an electronic device includes a processor, a display, a language module, a tracking module, a knowledge module, and a rendering module. The language module interprets a communication from a user into a data request. The tracking module stores the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests. The knowledge module determines a response to the data request. The rendering module displays the response in a tiled area on an image display of the electronic device.

Abstract: A delta store giving row-level versioning semantics to a non-row-level versioning underlying store is described. An example method includes establishing a column-based in-memory database including a main store and a delta store, where the main store allows only non-concurrent transactions on a same table and the delta store has a plurality of row-visibility bitmaps implementing a row-level versioning mechanism that allows concurrent transactions on the same table. A local RID space is established for a table fragment, that for each table in the database, the data of the table is stored in one or more main table fragment in the main store and in one or more delta table fragments in the delta store. Each table fragment has a local RID space, and the local RID space is a collection of one-based contiguous integer local RIDs (Row IDs) describing local positions of the rows of the table fragment.

Abstract: A method and system for ensuring consistency in data updates transactions in a distributed storage system (DSS) are provided. The method includes receiving an aggregated transaction request comprising monotonous transaction requests, wherein each monotonous transaction request is initiated by at least one computing node of a plurality of computing of nodes in the DSS, wherein the root computing node and the plurality of computing nodes are arranged in a tree structure; generating a range of transaction indexes based on the aggregated transaction request; and passing the generated range of transaction indexes along the plurality of computing nodes according to their respective level in the tree structure hierarchy, wherein each of the plurality of computing nodes initiating the monotonous transaction request is allocated with a unique portion of the aggregated transaction indexes, thereby ensuring time-order access to at least one storage device in the DSS.

Abstract: A database system converts a multi-table relational database into a wide table incorporating all of the information of the relational database tables and converts queries for the relational database system into a form applicable to the wide table. Dictionary compression and/or columnar store allow faster query processing despite a substantially larger size of the wide table.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to generating database sequences in a replicated database environment. An aspect includes providing a group of nodes each hosting an instance of a replicated database, with one node in the group elected as a master node responsible for generating and distributing values for auto-generated values in a column or row of the replicated database. Another aspect includes dividing, by the master node, a sequence space of possible auto-generated values for the column or row into sub-ranges and assigning a sub-range to a particular node in the group of nodes. Another aspect includes distributing, by the master node, values of the assigned sub-range to a particular node of the group of nodes.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for adding active volumes to existing replication configurations may include (1) identifying a new volume to be added to an existing replication configuration that replicates a plurality of volumes to a remote storage device, (2) using interchangeable bitmaps to perform an initial synchronization of the new volume with the remote storage device before replicating the new volume to the remote storage device as part of the existing replication configuration, (3) determining that a replication log associated with the replication configuration is capable of flagging future writes by the application to the new volume without overflowing, and, upon making that determination, (4) replicating the new volume to the remote storage device as part of the existing replication configuration. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: A distributed storage system maintains multiple logically independent file systems. Each file system includes a data set stored by a distributed storage of the distributed storage system. During operation, access pattern levels for the multiple logically independent file systems are determined. Thereafter, the data sets included in the multiple logically independent file systems are redistributed across multiple storage devices of the distributed storage. In one aspect, redistribution of a particular data set is based at least in part on the particular file system including the particular data set and on the determined access pattern levels for the multiple logically independent file systems. In one implementation, redistribution is performed according to a uniform redistribution scheme. In another implementation, redistribution is performed according to a proportional distribution scheme.

Abstract: Topic-based language models for an application search engine enable a user to search for an application based on the application's function rather than title. To enable a search based on function, information is gathered and processed, including application names, descriptions and external information. Processing the information includes filtering the information, generating a topic model and supplementing the topic model with additional information.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable storage mediums encoded with computer programs executed by one or more processors for providing a compressed representation of a transaction token are disclosed. In an embodiment, a transaction token maintains statues of transaction to a database in a first data structure and a second data structure. The first data structure includes a plurality of identifiers respectively corresponding to the transactions to the database and a corresponding status of each identifier indicating whether a given transaction is open or closed, wherein the plurality of identifiers is maintained below a threshold number of identifiers. The second data structure includes a plurality of identifiers of transactions to the database beyond the threshold and whose status is open.

Abstract: A distributed storage system maintains multiple logically independent file systems. Each file system includes a data set stored by a storage device of the distributed storage system. During operation, access pattern levels for the multiple logically independent file systems are determined. Thereafter, the data sets included in the multiple logically independent file systems are redistributed across multiple storage devices of the distributed storage. Redistribution of a particular data set is based at least in part on the particular file system including the particular data set and on the determined access pattern levels for the multiple logically independent file systems. In addition, each disk of a plurality of disks in the distributed storage includes a physically separated partition dedicated to storing the data of the file system that is most frequently accessed. The distribution of data is based at least in part on the presence of the physically separated partition.

Abstract: Provided are techniques for displaying a personalized search result summary for a search result. A search result from executing a search query is received. A category of search for the search query is determined. A summary template is selected from a collection of summary templates based on the category of search. A personalized summary is generated using the selected summary template and the received search result.

Abstract: An approach for providing a compressed data structure of data records sharing one or more common values is described. A data compression platform may process and/or facilitate a processing of a plurality of data records to determine one or more repeating values common across the plurality of data records. The data compression platform may also cause, at least in part, a storage of the one or more repeating values in at least one header record of a data structure. The data compression platform may further cause, at least in part, a storage of one or more non-repeating values of the plurality of data records in respective one or more point records of the data structure associated with the at least one header record.
