The lock spring (32, 32?) is configured and oriented to lock the plunger (26) in the plunger extended position when power is not applied to the coil (24) but to be attracted to the magnetic base (28) and thereby permit movement of the plunger (26) to a plunger retracted position when the power is applied to the coil (24).

Within the electrical chamber there is a magnetic activation device which slides vertically along one wall of the chamber. On the opposing side of the chamber there is a magnetic coupling head which couples to the activation device magnetically through the coupling wall. The coupling head is mounted on top of a float rod having a float mechanism at the bottom thereof. The entire float switch apparatus is mounted in the vessel such that when the water reaches a predetermined level the float moves the float rod vertically and thus the coupling head is moved vertically.
