  • Patent number: 9801358
Abstract: A hivetop incubator stimulates dormant solitary bees to emerge at the appropriate time to pollinate orchard and field crops. The hivetop incubator utilizes the heat produced by a colony of honeybees. It comprises an insulated incubation chamber with a lid and a screened base. The hivetop incubator is placed over the open top of a beehive containing a honeybee colony. Heat generated by nurse honeybees to maintain temperatures within the brood nest rises into the incubation chamber. Dormant solitary bees in cocoons are placed within the incubation chamber and are stimulated by the warmth to emerge rapidly. The active bees leave the incubation chamber thru exits and are thus available in the orchard or field for pollination.

  • Patent number: 9763426
Abstract: Vapor wake detection is a highly advantageous method and system for detecting explosives and other illicit substances. With vapor wake detection, a canine and a handler are used; however, unlike other detection schemes, the canine leads the handler. After the handler positions the canine in a desired location, the canine detects scents in the air that come to the canine. When the canine detects a trained scent, the canine leads the handler to or follows behind the carrier of the item with the scent. Once the carrier is identified by the handler, the proper personnel are contacted. To implement vapor wake detection effectively, specific rigorous training is utilized.

  • Patent number: 9730398
Abstract: A modular hydroponic growth system and method for applying the system having a central nutrient solution and nutrient reservoir that feeds nutrient solution and nutrients to one or more growth modules. A wall of the growth module is adapted to be removed to allow unimpeded access along a side of the box whereby trays may be inserted and removed without raising the bottom of the tray higher than required to clear an interior bottom surface of a cultivation chamber growth module. An additional germination compartment of the growth module supports simultaneous germination of seeds while another growth compartment of a same box supports growth in a second vessel, whereby ambient light is received by plants in the second vessel. An optional light filter screen provides varying filtering of the second vessel by selectively positioning a unified screen having two or more sections of varying strengths of light.
