    Abstract: For use in warming a rider on a motorcycle having a heat-producing engine, a portable heat transfer system and method of warmth. The system includes an air blower having an air inlet and an air outlet and being adapted to be positioned and secured preferably behind the engine in an area of heated air build-up beneath a rider seat where heat as a byproduct of engine operation accumulates. The air blower is connectable to an electric power source of the motorcycle to operate the air blower. An elongated flexible air transfer conduit is connectable at one end thereof to the air outlet of the air blower while an air outlet nozzle is connected to another end of the conduit. The outlet nozzle is adapted in size and shape to be inserted and held beneath a conventional upper torso garment worn by the rider whereby warmed air is drawn into the conduct from the area of heated air build-up by the air blower is discharged from the nozzle beneath the upper torso garment to warm the rider.

The shutter closes off the cooling air flow path, and when negative pressure is generated downstream of the shutter due to the operation of the fan, the shutter undergoes elastic deformation, and as a result, the cooling air flow path is opened.

At least one groove or channel is defined in the header or the end tank at the joint between the header and the end tank, for detecting the temporary seal. The at least one groove or channel extends beyond a highest point at which the temporary seal is formed. The groove or channel functions as a positive leak path between the temporary seal and the header and/or the end tank in the area at the joint between the header and the end tank.

The bypass valves can be plugged in where desired between the enlarged distal end portions to produce bypass flow between the inlet and outlet manifolds. The bypass valves include a housing which can be brazed in place during brazing of the heat exchanger. The housing has inlet and outlet openings in communication with the respective inlet and outlet manifolds for bypass flow therebetween. A removable temperature responsive actuator is located in the housing for blocking and unblocking the bypass flow through the valve.

A set of gated apertures in the chimney wall both above and below the flue damper then directs zoned airflows up into the chimney and across the inner coil that is deployed at the lower interior chimney opening with the air heated in a chamber surrounding the burner either selectively routed into the chimney to further increase the chimney draft or routed into the dwelling for warmth.
