  • Patent number: 5699989
Abstract: A mailbox mounting device which returns to its original position after side impact being comprised substantially of a horizontal mounting member, a base plate, a cylindrical cap, a spacer mounting plate, and resilient means for retarding the said cylindrical cap from rotating out of place. The cylindrical cap is affixed to the horizontal mounting member by a pin which fits through a hole in the cylindrical cap and through a hole contained in the cylindrical pivot shaft portion of the horizontal mounting member. This locks these two items in place and permits the base plate and the spacer mounting plate which are attached together to rotate about the horizontal mounting member. The base plate and spacer mounting plate are prevented from rotating more than 90 degrees after side impact by the use of two pivot stopping pins which impact the cap pivot stopping pin as the base plate is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5692727
Abstract: A supporting member in a conventional seat device is supported only by torsion bar arm portions positioned at right and left sides of the device. Accordingly, when a large biased load acts on the device, a sufficient roll rigidity is not obtained and both arm portions at the right and left sides rotate simultaneously. Interference with the supporting panel, cushion frame or the like may also occur. Accordingly, a seat pad supporting member supported by a cushion frame provided on a floor is elastically supported on at least one of the front and rear portions thereof to a torsion frame by a torsion bar. The torsion bar is latched, at the torsion bar torque bar portion side, to the cushion frame side. The torsion arm portion side, moreover, is latched to the right and left sides. Finally, the torsion bar arm portion, on both sides, is connected to a connecting member.

  • Patent number: 5690239
Abstract: The multi-purpose columnar support of this invention is an aesthetically pleasing structural support primarily adapted for use in creating displays for merchandise in stores and exhibits. A tubular column extruded from heavy gauge metal or other structural material and cut to any desired length is the principal element of the columnar support. The diameter of the column is three inches in the illustrated embodiment, but may be of any desired diameter. The extruded column has a core and four holding areas that diverge outwardly from the core to the cylinder wall and support connectors selected from a group of connectors that are each configured to engage and support one or more items of conventional hardware, such as brackets, slotted strips, slatwalls, decorative panels and wire slat grid panels, that are used in the display of merchandise, The unused holding areas are closed by trim caps to provide the appearance of a substantially solid column with an unbroken surface except for the active holding areas.

  • Patent number: 5682961
Abstract: A skyrise window panel installation assembly including an heavy duty cable structured to extend down a side of a skyrise and be securely anchored at a point above an installation location. The assembly further includes a winch assembly having a rigid and strong drive frame at which the cable is received and securely engaged for secure guided, driven interconnection, selectively up and down a length of the cable, thereby providing for the effective positioning of the winch assembly in a desired position relative to the window panel installation location. Secured to the drive frame is a primary operator chair wherein a primary operator sits in confronting relation to the side of the skyrise in order to effectively and precisely position the winch assembly in the desired position. Extending from the drive frame is a connection bracket, to which a suction assembly is secured. The suction assembly includes a mount frame and is disposed in a generally vertically disposed orientation along the side of the skyrise.

  • Patent number: 5678796
Abstract: An attachment mechanism for grasping an object such as an automobile tire. The attachment mechanism includes a number of clamp members pivotally connected to an inner plate. The clamp members fit around and grasp the object, and are adjustable to fit around objects of different sizes. The attachment member may be used, for example, as a locking mechanism for an automobile attachment such as a portable cover. The attachment mechanism locks onto the tires without any support from the ground. The frame for the automobile attachment can then be coupled to the attachment mechanisms, which provide the necessary support for the cover.
