Abstract: A die material particularly suitable for the making of castings or the like, comprises 50 to 80 parts of magnesium oxide, 10-40 parts of alumina, 2 to 6 parts of monohydrated ammonium phosphate, and 1 to 4 parts of dihydrated ammonium phosphate. The dry blend thus formed, when mixed with a chilled liquid binder containing a collodial silica sol of about 40 weight percent solids content in the ratio of one portion of the liquid binder and from 2 to 5 portions of the dry blend, forms a ceramic slurry which can be readily set in hot water within 4 to 10 minutes. The set ceramic casting is then dry heated to about 250.degree. F. for one to two hours. Molten metal is then applied on the casting for forming a metal jacket to use in dental prostheses.
Abstract: A dental cement composition comprises a first ingredient containing as the main component a metal oxide and a second ingredient capable of reacting with the first ingredient to form a set mass, and further contains a tannic acid derivative that is sparingly soluble in water and a reducing agent that is soluble in water. The instant cement composition may contain an aluminum salt to improve the properties thereof.
Abstract: A binder composition containing a phenolic resin in an organic solvent, a polyisocyanate, wherein said organic solvent is substantially free from polar solvents, and methods of making and using the same.
Abstract: A fire-resistant and light-weight construction board is prepared by treating fly ash and/or paper sludge incineration ash to a swelling treatment with a mineral acid and shaping and hardening the resultant mixture.

Abstract: There is disclosed, in one aspect, a long-acting biocidal composition. This composition comprises a chlorine dioxide-liberating compound, such as sodium chlorite, and sufficient organic acid-generating compound, such as poly(lactic acid), to lower the pH of the composition to less than about 7. The organic acid-generating compound is present in a form whereby it is released gradually in the presence of water. Preferably the organic acid-generating compound is encapsulated within or by a film-forming polymer. In another aspect, there is disclosed a method of disinfecting a surface over a prolonged period of time. This method comprises applying to the surface a small but effective amount of the long-acting biocidal composition described above.

Abstract: Corrosion inhibitor compositions comprising a mixture of nitroalkane containing 1-3 carbon atoms and an amine neutralized phosphate ester selected from the group consisting of 2-ethylhexylamine salt of mixed mono- and di-isooctyl acid phosphate, tertiary C.sub.12 alkyl primary amine salt of mixed mono- and di-isooctyl acid phosphate, diethylamine salt of mixed mono- and di-butoxyethyl acid phosphate and 2-ethylhexylamine salt of mixed mono- and di-tridecyl acid phosphate. Such compositions are useful in inhibiting corrosion on the interior surfaces of tin-plated aerosol cans containing water-based aerosol formulations.
Abstract: A method of accelerating the breakdown of phenolic resin bonded cores by means of adding a basic salt of alkali metals in powder form to phenolic resin coated sand is disclosed. The basic salt is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal carbonates, bicarbonates and organic acid salts, and mixtures thereof, and is microcapsulated with plastic.
Abstract: A non-toxic corrosion-inhibiting coating composition is disclosed. The composition comprises at least 15% by weight wool grease having a moisture content of less than about 10% and at least 0.1 pounds and preferably from about 0.2 to about 0.6 pounds of barium metaborate per gallon of wool grease in the coating composition. Solvent may be used to adjust the viscosity of the composition.
Abstract: A chemical composition particularly useful in a vapor generating apparatus which includes at least one organic compound with two or less carbon atoms and a selected coating compound therein. Upon submersion of an object to be cleaned or dried in a boiling solution of the organic compound the object is not only cleaned or dried, but is also coated with a material which improves its resistance to, for example, erosion, corrosion, friction, and the like.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel fluorine-containing monomer having one carbon-carbon double bond at one of the main molecular chain ends thereof and a molecular weight of 300 to 1600, obtained by bringing a fluorine-containing telomer having a molecular weight of 200 to 1500 and an OH group at one of the main molecular chain ends thereof into esterification with acryloyl chloride or methacryloyl chloride.
Abstract: Built detergent bleach compositions having improved low temperature bleach performance comprising a sequestrant builder; a peroxyacid selected from peracetic acid, monoperoxyphthalic acid and monopersulphate and water soluble salts thereof; and 0.005 to 0.1% by weight of Manganese (II) ions, in the substantial absence of hydrogen peroxide. The compositions can be used for washing and cleaning fabrics at temperatures below 40.degree. C.
