Patent number: 7691308Abstract: A piston stopper (2) made substantially of rubber has a piston section (8) enclosed in cap-like manner by an inert film (9) located adjacent to and facing the contents of a syringe or carpule cylinder (1). A non-vulcanized rubber sheet (7) is inserted into a form tool, together with an inert film (9). Under the effect of pressure and heat, an entire piston stopper contour is formed from the layered arrangement, extending to a flange (16) which protrudes laterally beyond the piston stopper (2) in the region of the separating plane of the form tool. A receiving cavity (6) for a piston rod is created in the piston section (8). The wall area of the sealing section (10) surrounding the receiving cavity (6) is forced into the receiving cavity (6). The piston stopper (2) is subsequently separated from the flange (16) in a blanking process, whereby a peripheral sealing area (13), directly adjacent to the edge of the inert film (9) enclosing the piston section (8), is formed in the sealing section (10).Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2007Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: West Pharmceutical Services Deutschland GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7686996Abstract: An apparatus and methods for flame-perforating films. A preferred embodiment of the apparatus includes a frame, support surface attached to the frame, where the support surface includes a plurality of lowered portions, a burner attached to the frame opposite the support surface, where the burner supports a flame, and where the flame includes a flame tip opposite the burner and a film contacting the support surface, where the flame of the burner is in contact with the film, where the burner is positioned such that the distance between an unimpinged flame tip of the flame and the burner is at least one-third greater than the distance between the film and the burner.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2006Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Mark A. Patent number: 7645412Abstract: A sliding portion between a seal lip (7) and the circumference of a shaft (3) is made of a sliding face (10) so that the facial pressure at the initial action time can be lowered to suppress the proceeding of the wear of the seal lip (7) thereby to elongate the lifetime of a sealing device (1). Moreover, screw ridges (12) are formed from an atmospheric side slope (11) to a sliding face (10) so that satisfactory sealing properties can be exhibited initially and endurably for a long time.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2007Date of Patent: January 12, 2010Assignee: NOK CorporationInventor: Hideyuki Furuyama

Patent number: 7641839Abstract: A method for fabricating a three dimensional emblem is disclosed. An indentation is formed in the back surface of a piece of transparent material. Multiple colors are printed to form a pattern or emblem in the indentation. After printing, the indentation is filled with resin to make the back surface of the piece of transparent material flat. A second indentation is then formed in the filled indentation. When the front surface of the transparent material is viewed, the emblem appears as a three dimensional emblem. Since the emblem is under the front surface of the transparent material, the three dimensional emblem is protected and cannot be inadvertently dislodged from the transparent material.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2007Date of Patent: January 5, 2010Inventor: Ming-Yuan Wu

Patent number: 7638083Abstract: A molding method which includes charging a resin composition in molten state containing not less than 7 wt % to less than 30 wt % of a fibrous fiber (A) and more than 70 wt % to not exceeding 93 wt % of a resin (B) into a die for shaping purpose when a temperature of the die is in the range of [the Vicat softening point minus 20° C.] of resin (B) to less than a melting point thereof, when resin (B) is crystalline resin, or when a temperature of the die is in the range of [the Vicat softening point minus 20° C.] to [the Vicat softening point plus 20° C.] of the resin (B), when resin (B) is non-crystalline resin, cooling the die after shaping to temperature which allows taking-out of a molded product.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2003Date of Patent: December 29, 2009Assignee: Prime Polymer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomoyuki Obara, Katsuhiko Tada

Patent number: 7621736Abstract: An apparatus for placing a mold charge into a cavity includes a pair of hubs mounted for rotation around parallel axes, a link connected between the hubs at positions off-center relative to the parallel axes and a blade connected to the link. Rotation of the hubs causes the blade to travel in an elliptical path relative to an extrusion orifice to cut mold charges from the orifice and place the mold charges into cavities passing beneath the blade. The apparatus preferably includes a drive member that simultaneously rotates both of the hubs to drive the blade relative to the extrusion orifice and cavities. The blade preferably includes an arm that extends into a cavity to place a mold charge into the bottom of the cavity for consistent and accurate placement of the mold charges from one cavity to the next.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2005Date of Patent: November 24, 2009Assignee: Rexam Closure Systems Inc.Inventors: Daniel L. Mattice, John J. Mallas, David C. Thompson

Patent number: 7622064Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and methods for flame-perforating polymeric films with an oxygen-enriched flame. One embodiment of the apparatus includes a frame, a support surface attached to the frame, where the support surface includes a plurality of lowered portions, an oxygen-enrichment system for increasing the amount of oxygen in the combustible mixture, a burner attached to the frame opposite the support surface, where the burner supports a stable flame, and a film contacting the support surface, where the flame of the burner is directed towards the film to cause the film to be perforated. One embodiment of the method of flame perforating a polymeric film includes igniting an oxygen-enriched combustible mixture to form a stable flame, wherein the flame generated by the oxygen-enriched combustible mixture provides more uniform perforations.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2006Date of Patent: November 24, 2009Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Joel A.
