  • Patent number: 6185910
Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for high-purity bottling of beverages and an apparatus for carrying out such a method. For achieving high-purity bottling within a confined space and for reducing the operating expenses in comparison with conventional plants, it is suggested that an immersion bath sterilizer should be connected directly to a rotary filling machine and that the rotary filling machine should be arranged in a clean room, whereas in the area of the bottle conveying path through said clean room ultraclean-room conditions are created.

  • Patent number: 6164198
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a calender, comprising a cylindrical heated roll and a flexible belt surrounding a stationary support beam which supports at least one actuator which may urge a concave load shoe against the heated roll by means of said flexible belt to form an extended and heated nip through which a fiber web passes to be calendered and a separating mechanism for having at least one of the rolls movable into and away from the nip characterized in that said flexible belt is a flexible tubular jacket which forms a part of an enclosed shoe roll such that the ends of said jacket have end walls mounted thereto, which end walls are rotatably mounted in relation to said support beam, and in that at least one of said end walls is driven by means of a drive arrangement which drive arrangement may be activated to drive the end walls and thereby also the jacket independently of its position in relation to the fiber web or the heated roll.

  • Patent number: 6161475
Abstract: A squeezing cycle with a relatively short first stage in which the fruit is loaded, and a longer second squeezing stage involving a relatively slow chamber volume reduction movement is disclosed. The machine possesses for the movable cup an operating mechanism including two wheels of equal diameter, of which the first wheel is fixed and the other wheel is driven and is engaged with the first wheel in such a manner as to roll along its pitch circle. The machine also includes a motor-driven member for gyrating the axis of the driven wheel by causing this to roll about the fixed wheel, and a crank mechanism connecting the driven wheel to the movable cup and having a crankpin which is carried by the driven wheel and has its center at a distance from the axis of the driven wheel which is less than or equal to the radius of the pitch circle of the driven wheel.

  • Patent number: 6148720
Abstract: A press machine includes a frame, a first crankshaft rotated by a driving source, a second crankshaft connected with a slide, and a connection mechanism provided with a pair of levers connected with each other so as to carry out their bending-stretching motion as the first crankshaft is rotated. One lever has a first pivot and is connected, through the first pivot, with a position adjusting device for adjusting the position of the first pivot in the vertical or horizontal direction. The other lever has a second pivot and is connected, through the second pivot, with the eccentric shaft portion of the second crankshaft. The slide is connected with other eccentric shaft portion of the second crankshaft.

  • Patent number: 6123654
Abstract: An apparatus for loading a liner into a container made of a flexible material has an elongate tube into which the liner is inserted with its free end extending slightly beyond the end of the tube and over and onto which the container is received whereby the free end of the liner is generally aligned with a corresponding end of the container such that an operator may grab the corresponding ends of the liner and container and generally simultaneously remove the container and liner from the tube so the liner is received interiorily and stretched out within the container. This process is relatively simple and can be accomplished by a single operator to reduce the cost and time needed to insert a liner into a container. The apparatus can be used with containers having a spout or access opening in one or both of a pair of opposed end walls.

  • Patent number: 6102391
Abstract: An apparatus for changing the direction of travel of a flat article being conveyed seriatim along a paper path without changing the orientation of the flat article with respect to a first direction of travel. The apparatus includes a deck having an upstream end for receiving a flat article being conveyed along a paper path in a first direction and a registration wall upstanding on the deck and spaced from the upstream end, the registration wall having a longitudinal axis defining a second direction that is substantially orthogonal to the first direction. A drive assembly is operatively coupled to the deck in proximity to the registration wall and is operative to seize a first leading edge of a flat article traveling in the first direction on the deck and convey the flat article in the second direction such that the leading edge of the flat article abuts against the registration wall.

  • Patent number: 6076335
Abstract: Packaging containers for liquid contents, for example milk, are normally manufactured from laminated packaging material including a carrier or core layer of fiber material which is coated on each side with plastic layers. In order to facilitate folding of the material, this is normally provided with a pattern of weakening crease lines which facilitate the reforming into the desired packaging container configuration. A method of retroforming or calibrating a packaging container for realizing more accurate final configuration, sharper fold lines and thereby for imparting to the packaging container improved steadiness and stability comprises the steps of surrounding the packaging container (1) with a forming device (11) adapted to the final configuration of the packaging container, and of displacing parts (12, 13) of the forming device towards one another so that the free space for the packaging container is briefly reduced.

  • Patent number: 6055904
Abstract: A thermoforming press in which the shut height of upper and lower platens is adjustable by a keyed connection between a press frame top assembly and each of four posts of the frame established by pieces which are movable and which also act as cams to raise or lower the frame top assembly, moving the upper platen therewith to vary the shut height. The movable pieces are moved in unison by a drive motor to insure uniform movement of the frame top assembly. The platens are driven by rotary crank plates, which are in turn driven by rotary output shafts of right angle drives. Pairs of rollers engage the perimeter of each crank plate on one side to resist bending loads on each shaft.
