  • Patent number: 4372065
Abstract: A pressing table has a main pressing surface element and a pivotable additional pressing table surface element, and a blower capable of applying suction or blowing action selectively to one or other of the pressing table surface portions. Change over from suction to blowing is achieved by the action of the blower fan discharge air in response to triggering by a solenoid thruster, and the blowing action is held on by the airstream until the blower fan stops. Selection of the additional pressing table surface element for the blowing or suction action is automatic in response to pivoting of the additional element from a rest position to an operative position.

  • Patent number: 4370781
Abstract: There is provided a clearer device located above a series of draft rolls with a predetermined number of plumbs and secured inside a cover plate rotatable and removable by means of a pivot formed in part of two side plates. This clearer device is characterized in that endless clearer members stretch between intermittently driven clearer rolls and guide members permitting said clearer members to abut front top rolls fixedly secured. A pressure member is springingly held back of said clearer members to force downward said clearer members and permit said top rolls or a top apron to come into contact with said clearer members. The clearer rolls are intermittently driven by swinging a rocking lever pivoted on the shafts of said clearer rolls via an oscillation lever and rotating a ratchet gear fixed on said roll shafts by means of engaging tooth at said rocking lever.

  • Patent number: 4369550
Abstract: An autolevelling drawframe for levelling out staple fibre slivers in the spinning mill operation, in which deviations of the sliver weight (linear density) from the preset desired value detected are processed into correcting signals and are transmitted to a correcting member, which adapts the input speed of the drafting arrangement. The correcting signal transmitted is generated from the product of a voltage proportional to the rotational speed of the main motor and a voltage determined by the deviation in linear density. The apparatus consists of a computer (34,41; 60,41; 67,71) for computing the correcting signal, which computer is connected electrically with the correcting member (48), with a transducer (20) transmitting the voltage proportional to the rotational speed of the main motor, and with means for generating the voltage determined by the deviation in linear density. The computer can consist of a control device (36) and a multiplicator (41) or of a microprocessor (71) (digital computer).

  • Patent number: 4369548
Abstract: A fiber conditioner comprises an outer casing or enclosure and a perforated screen positioned within the casing. The screen is formed by a plurality of attached invertible and sexless sections. A plurality of hammer assemblies are rotatably positioned within the screen for impelling material fed into the conditioner against the screen in order to separate it into pitch and fiber. A multi-piece shaft rotates the hammer assemblies, which are connected to a rotor shaft assembly forming the central portion of the shaft. An upper stub shaft assembly and a lower stub shaft assembly can be connected to opposite ends of the rotor shaft assembly by clamping. By releasing the clamps, each shaft assembly can be removed from the conditioner in a generally horizontal manner through an opening created by the removal of at least one screen section.

  • Patent number: 4369549
Abstract: A method and apparatus for blending a "primary staple" with a "secondary staple" wherein the weight ratio of the primary staple to the secondary staple is between 10,000:1 and 10:1 is disclosed. The secondary staple is continuously supplied to a blending machine (already working a primary staple) by drafting a textile roving. The drawn roving is then disintegrated into the secondary staple by an air flow amplifier. The air flow amplifier also supplies an air flow to transport the secondary staple to a blending machine, where it is blended into the primary staple.

  • Patent number: 4366907
Abstract: A pair of leg frame members are connected in side by side spaced relationship and are adapted to be inserted in the legs of a pair of trousers to display the trousers in a selected position. Each of the leg frame members includes inner and outer seam supports formed by a plurality of elongated elements that are positioned in end to end relationship. The adjacent ends of the elongated elements are pivotally connected so that the inner and outer seam supports are formed by a plurality of spaced parallel pairs of elongated elements. Thus the pairs of elongated elements for each pair of leg frame members are independently pivotal to a preselected angular position. The pair of leg frame members can then be pivoted at a plurality of pivot points along the length thereof so as to display the legs of the trousers in a plurality of imaginative arrangements.

  • Patent number: 4365735
Abstract: An apparatus for forming pocket welts is disclosed. The upper portion of the external breast pocket of men and women's sport and suit jackets are frequently constructed by making a cut in the breast of the jacket and connecting a pocket to the inward side of the jacket fabric. A pocket welt is joined to the exterior of the breast, just below the cut and along its sides to form a top portion of the completed pocket. The pocket welt is constructed using a precut piece of fabric which is positioned by an operator on a template, which forms a portion of the apparatus. The fabric is secured by a vacuum and is folded by the operator along lines determined by the template. Subsequent to folding, a precut fusing material may be positioned by the operator over the fabric. The apparatus is then actuated by the operator causing the fabric and fusing to be folded and pressed, automatically. If fusing is used, the temperature of the platens may be set sufficiently high so as to cause the fusing to bond to the fabric.

Abstract: Static tow inverting apparatus for inverting the overlap of overlapping layers of a continuous length filamentary tow band of textile material deposited onto the surface of a moving conveyor in relaxed condition for treatment, such as in the thermal heat setting treatment of a band of tow which has been subjected to a mechanical crimping operation. The tow inverter comprises a pair of stationary plates which are disposed above the surface of a moving conveyor to receive a continuous length of tow in a plurality of overlapping layers thereon. The opposed surfaces of the spaced plates define a downwardly curving passageway for gravitational conveyance of the overlapping layers of tow through a reversing direction of movement to deposit the same on the surface of the moving conveyor with preceding layers of tow overlying succeeding layers of tow in the direction of movement on the conveyor.
