Abstract: Systems and methods for filtering and viewing collaborative indexes of annotations of multimedia or video streams can include obtaining a multimedia or video stream, obtaining user indexes of annotations of the multimedia or video stream, merging the indexes, associating portions of the multimedia or video stream with the annotations, determining high-value annotations and displaying the high value annotations. Systems and methods for providing useful visualizations of the indexes of annotations and high value annotations are also provided.

Abstract: A method for supplying supplementary information related to printed books comprises the steps of: distributing a plurality of different printed books having respective content; supplying a common internet web access address together with each one of the plurality of different printed books; making a first web site accessible on the internet at the common address; firstly displaying at the first web site, in response to each internet access of the first web site, a first set of respective hyper links corresponding to each of the different printed books; and, secondly displaying at the first web site, in response to selection of any one of the hyper links on the first web page, a further and respective set of hyper links identifying further web sites having information relevant to and underlying the respective content of the printed book corresponding to the selected hyper link of the first web page.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presenting a tab-based graphic user interface (GUI) having more tabs than can be fitted across a screen side for a computer system. The computer system can be handheld devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA's) and cell phones. The tab-based GUI displays as many tabs as possible on the screen side. The on-screen tabs are arranged in a sequence on a side of the display screen wherein each of these displayed tabs is adapted to be selected by a user for entering into a file category. The off-screen and on-screen tabs form a circular array conceptually such that a portion of the circular array being displayed on the screen side is the sequence of the on-screen tabs. In response to the selection of a on-screen tab, the selected on-screen tab is automatically scrolled to the center position of the screen side. In response to the selection of another on-screen tab, the newly selected on-screen tab is automatically scrolled to the center position of the screen side.

Abstract: A method and system for data display and data capture using applets within hidden frames on a browser. A visible frame and two invisible frames are passed to a client in response to an http request. The visible frame may include multiple layers. The hidden frames contain applets such as Java Server programs (JSP), but do not contain any visible html. Static data that is used for data display and data selection (e.g. pick boxes) is contained within one hidden frame. An applet, such as JSP within the other hidden frame provides an interface between the visible frame and the server to retrieve dynamic data, or verify data entry.

Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for telephone call initiation through an on-line search. A search response includes at least one hit corresponding to a search request, an ad having a dial link, and instructions for triggering a multi-leg phone call with a merchant phone number associated with the dial link and a user phone number. The dial link has a display portion. The search response is displayed, and the dial link is activated. A call trigger is generated in accordance with the instructions in the search response. The call trigger is for initiating a multi-leg phone call with the user phone number and the merchant phone number.

Abstract: According to this method of temporal segmentation of a video sequence (200) containing one or more markers, the analysis of the content of these markers makes it possible to segment the video sequence into a plurality of video sub-sequences.

Abstract: A browser sessions search tool allows a user to search through records of previously viewed resource pages, even across multiple browser sessions. Each visit to a resource page results in creation of a visit data structure that references the resource page content. A rich assortment of data is recorded for each visited resource page, such as full text and layout data, time of access and navigation type that lead to the page. In one embodiment, color aspects of each resource page are stored to assist in a search, although other recorded resource page characteristics may additionally or alternatively include without limitation other visual, audio, navigational, or metadata aspects.

Abstract: The present invention includes systems and methods for customization of internet applications and HTML based interfaces. Multiple levels of customization are applied to both static and functional aspects of user interface elements including, for example, user interface element order, alternative layout modes, tab-order, tab-over, immediate access keys, and hotkeys. The alternative layout modes included layout modes configured for presentation of an HTML based interface as streaming text and as an audio output. Customization is also achieved with respect to searching over multiple user interfaces, presentation of information on a user interface, the interaction model used by the internet application and user interface element order. Customization is enabled on any client supporting standard browser functionality.

Abstract: A facility for specifying the distribution of products and generating product distribution lists. The facility receives account definitions, which may include information specifying account hierarchies. One or more product categories may be associated with each account. A distribution code may also be associated with the account's category assignment. The facility may identify or more products associated with the account, and a product distribution code may be associated with each product in the category. Based on the distribution level for each category and the product distribution codes for each product in the category, the facility may identify products for a product distribution list associated with an account.

Abstract: An alphanumeric information entry process that includes provision and use of a personal context model that correlates various examples of user context against a unique personal language model for the user. The personal language model itself along with considerable correlation examples can be developed by statistical analysis of user documents and files including particularly email files (including address books). Such processing can be done locally or remotely. The personal context model is used to predict subsequent alphanumeric entries for a given user. In one embodiment predictions are presented one word at a time. Predictions can be automatically changed in one embodiment when the user fails to make any input for a predetermined period of time.

A graphics stack is used to store pre-computed coordinate values to improve performance for drawing graphics, such as to display a user interface on a display of a mobile device.

Abstract: An interactive menu apparatus and method within a software computer video display system for creating inventions or prospects for inventions, via the juxtaposition of concepts or words, defined from word paths or sets displayed on the menu, from one to six simulated spun reels or drums below the menu, seen through one to thirty open spaces, cells or windows on the menu. In the preferred embodiment, the INVENTOR'S MENU TTT t.m, nine space grid, is utilized.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) for an interactive video casting network can be provided that is capable of being customized per element or as a scene of one channel or universally on all channels. For example, a user can select a desired appearance (e.g., a skin or schema) of individual elements related to a channel, such as scroll bars, backgrounds, icons, GIFs, menus, and the like. Alternatively or in addition, a user may choose to customize the appearance of items/elements such as graphical overlays, pop-up screens, trigger indicators, buttons, interactive applications, web pages, and the like. Non-exhaustive and non-limiting examples of skin themes may include, space, travel, animals, architecture, cartoons, etc. The skins may include settings related to shapes, color and pattern schemes, graphics, animation, and other variations.

Abstract: Several enhancements to a real-time communications user interface are provided to add functionality and personality in such communications as instant messaging. These enhancements are geared at least in part to making the user interface more personalized between users in a real-time communication session, including personalized fonts, spacing, extensible emoticons, etc. Other enhancements are geared in part toward enhancing the use of the interface. For example, a dynamically changing input box may remove a need for scroll bars, and edit control of previous messages may remove the need to send corrective messages. A number of these enhancements may be accomplished through the use of markup languages in the user interface. One or more of the disclosed enhancements may improve the immediacy, readability, and functionality of instant message conversations.
