Patent number: 7369386Abstract: Current sensing resistors are connected directly to output terminals of MOSFETs forming the series switching stage of a PWM sinewave dimmer. An analog sensed current signal is coupled through an EMI resistant current link to comparators that provide an overcurrent indication in response to an overcurrent condition. A logic circuit overrides PWM control signals from a programmable controller, and operates drivers to render the series switching stage nonconductive and to render a clamp switching stage conductive until after the end of the current PWM duty cycle power on segment. The logic circuit sends an overcurrent signal through an optocoupler to an input of the programmable controller. The input of the controller is polled at a clock frequency for overcurrent signals and if the count exceeds a limit in any half cycle, or a maximum sum in sixteen half cycles of the AC supply, the series switching stage is rendered nonconductive and the clamp switching stage is rendered conductive pending a reset signal.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2005Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.Inventors: Eric G. Patent number: 7355829Abstract: In a redundant configuration with multiple power sources connected in parallel to enhance reliability, a power source in which an overvoltage failure occurred has been difficult to identify and unable to be deactivated, which has impeded the improvement of reliability. However, it has become possible to deactivate selectively only the power source in which an overvoltage failure has occurred, by providing a independency-discrimination circuit that identifies the occurrence of the overvoltage failure by use of the state of a parallel operation control circuit, and connecting the independency-discrimination circuit, an overvoltage detection circuit, and a connection circuit.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2004Date of Patent: April 8, 2008Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Densei-Lambda K.K.Inventors: Hideho Yamamura, Naoki Maru, Satoshi Tomioka, Motoharu Ueguri

Patent number: 7332829Abstract: In a condition monitor system for controlling a power supply in a vehicle, a charge/discharge circuit has a capacitor which is discharged in response to each of speed pulses of a speed sensor and periodic pulses of a microcomputer. When none of the pulses are generated due to abnormality, the capacitor is continuously charged without being discharged. When the charge voltage of the capacitor reaches a switching voltage, a relay is turned off to shut off the power supply to various parts in the vehicle. The charge/discharge circuit is commonly used to check generation of the speed pulses and the periodic pulses by setting the switching voltage in accordance with a possible maximum time interval of the speed pulses.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2004Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Nobutomo Takagi, Makoto Kawatsu, Yasuhiro Tanaka

Patent number: 7242561Abstract: The invention relates to an ESD protection with ability to enhance trigger-on speed of a low voltage Triggered PNP (LVTPNP) unit for protecting internal circuits of an integrated circuit from attack of an ESD stress. The ESD protection unit incorporates either detection circuit or power clamp circuit to efficiently trigger on a trigger node as a heavily doped region of LVTPNP devices among an I/O pad, a VDD pin and a VSS pin. As soon as the trigger node of each LVTPNP device receives a trigger signal from either the ESD detection circuit or power clamp circuit, the threshold voltage of the LVTPNP devices are capable of being therefore reduced to enhance trigger-on speed of the LVTPNP devices that discharge ESD current.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2005Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Silicon Integrated System Corp.Inventors: Ming-Dou Ker, Chein-Ming Lee

Patent number: 7233473Abstract: A protection circuit and method are provided for a floating power transfer device having one or more switches for controlling charging of a reservoir capacitor across which a load is applied when in use. The protection circuit includes a control circuit, a fault detection circuit and a precharge driver circuit. The control circuit at least partially controls switching of the at least one switch, while the fault detection circuit detects when a fault in the floating power transfer device or the load occurs and sends a fault detect signal to the control circuit in response thereto. The precharge driver circuit, which is enabled by the control circuit responsive to receipt of the fault detect signal, attempts to precharge the reservoir capacitor to a voltage level sufficient for switching of the one or more switches to proceed without damaging the switches.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventors: William Donaldson, Edmond Toy

Patent number: 7224567Abstract: An ionization electrode consists of a plate-like positive pole (31a) formed with plural pointed ends (31b) on its outer edge, and a spheric negative pole (32a) opposing a flat surface of the positive pole (31a). Since the pointed ends (31b) of the positive pole (31a) are not in direct face-to-face relation with the negative pole (32a), corona discharge is prevented from concentrating on some of the pointed ends (31b) that are closer to the negative pole (32b) than the rest due to the working errors or mounting errors of the poles. Therefore, the corona discharge occurs in a stable manner.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2004Date of Patent: May 29, 2007Inventor: Kazuo Motouchi
