  • Patent number: 9396378
Abstract: Techniques for communicating particular information from a user to a touch screen device by way of a touch event is provided. Sensors that are operatively coupled to a sensing device sense an input from the user which conveys particular information. This input is then converted by the sensing device into another signal called the sensing device signal which is then transmitted from the sensing device to the user's skin. Then a second set of sensors that are operatively coupled to a touch device receive a user-touch signal that is transmitted from the user's body. The user-touch signal is based, at least in part on the sensing device signal. The touch device then decodes the user-touch signal to determine the location of the touch event on the touch device and sensing device signal embedded in the user-touch signal to extract the particular information related to the user.

  • Patent number: 9389721
Abstract: A protection mechanism for force-based touch sensitive input panels or displays comprising a “snap dome”, e.g., a semi-rigid pliable dome positioned over each sensor for increased overload protection. The snap dome is unidirectionally-resilient to a known point of collapse. It therefore imparts a predetermined resistance to compression over a known range of travel along the z-axis, but is unyielding along the x- and y-axis. As the touch panel is depressed toward the standoff, the snap dome resists compression until it collapses, allowing the touch panel to encounter the standoff. The standoff then imparts dead-stop overload force protection to the sensors. This allows for the placement of mechanical stops (such as stop screws) with a less exacting tolerance. Moreover, the snap domes introduce no x- or y-axis force losses/increases, and do not cause tilting of the touch panel. The touch force remains perfectly perpendicular and accuracy is preserved.

  • Patent number: 9355600
Abstract: A display device includes a plurality of cells arranged in a two-dimensional matrix and including luminous elements and feedback elements arranged in the cells. A control device emits control signals to control the luminous elements individually in accordance with a setpoint control pattern. An evaluation device receives from the feedback elements feedback signals depending on actual control states of the luminous elements and determines a feedback pattern based on the feedback signals. The evaluation device then compares the feedback pattern with the setpoint control pattern and producing a normal reaction when the feedback pattern matches the setpoint control pattern, and producing a fault reaction that is different from the normal reaction when the feedback pattern fails to match the setpoint control pattern.
