  • Patent number: 4776505
Abstract: A roll feed apparatus for intermittently feeding a strip by a constant length into manufacturing machines. A pair of first and second rolls and a pair of first and second brake shoes are arranged along a strip transporting path. The rolls move swingingly in a strip transporting direction to transport the strip clamped between the rolls. The rolls move away from each other when they swingingly move in a direction opposite to the strip transporting direction. First and second cams are mounted respectively on outer and inner shaft members of a drive shaft for rotation therewith. The inner shaft member can be adjusted in its angular position relative to the outer shaft member. The cams are operatively connected to the second brake shoe.

  • Patent number: 4773580
Abstract: A clip which is to separably couple an elastic belt conveyor with the leader of a web of photographic material has a slotted arm which is connectable to the leader and a frame which is integral with one end of the arm and has a square window bounded at two of its sides by triangular or square projections. The belt conveyor is caused to buckle so as to reduce its effective width, and one of its marginal portions is inserted in front of one of the projections from one side of the frame prior to insertion of the other marginal portion in front of the other projection. The projections engage one side of the conveyor and the other side of the conveyor is engaged by one side of the frame in front of and behind the window. The clip is flat and its arm is integral with the frame. The width of the window in the frame is somewhat less than the width of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4770090
Abstract: A coffee- or tea-making machine is to be constructed so that its space-occupancy during non-use is considerably smaller than its space occupancy during use. For this purpose the maximum inner width, or alternately inner diameter of the receptacle for the filtrate is larger than the outer maximum width, or alternately, outer diameter of the filter container above a supporting flange of the filter container. The fresh-water container of the coffee- or tea-making machine has a base surface which corresponds at least to that of the receptacle, and the inner height of the fresh-water container corresponds at least to the combined height of the receptacle and of the filter container, when the filter container is inserted into the receptacle in a position reverse from a normal operating position of the filter container.

  • Patent number: 4763822
Abstract: A paper tail nip threader for guiding a moving paper tail over and around a contoured surface. The apparatus is particularly useful for automatically threading a paper tail through a calender roll stack.A guide surface is shaped to conform to a portion of the surface over which the paper is to be passed. An air stream is directed across the guide surface in the desired direction of movement of the paper. The air stream is thus forced to flow in a contoured path which corresponds to the surface over which the paper is to be passed. The moving air stream "catches" the paper tail and carries it between the guide surface and the surface over which the paper is to be passed.

  • Patent number: 4760945
Abstract: A conveyor belt controller for controlling the variations in the lateral position of a running conveyor belt comprises a regulated stretch of conveyor belt having a guide member, particularly a guide roller, at one end, a controllable guiding mechanism able to laterally displace the conveyor belt when the conveyor belt is shifted from a correct position, and at least one video camera observing the lateral motion of the conveyor belt whose electrical image signal is convertable by a computer into a controlling command for the guiding mechanism. The video camera is mounted upstream from the guide member spaced approximately a distance equal to the length of the regulated stretch. An indicating member is provided in the image field of the video camera for the actual position of the guiding mechanism extending transversely to the guiding mechanism. Advantageously, the indicating member is provided with an indicator light source which is pulsed for more sensitive detection.

  • Patent number: 4754983
Abstract: Sealing apparatus between inner and outer coaxial rotating shafts in which two sealing rings sealingly contact each other along confronting circumferential surfaces. In a position of rest, the rings surround the inner shaft with a predetermined circumferential sealing clearance of rotational symmetry. The sealing rings are supported in axially resilient manner between radial walls of a housing secured to the outer shaft which walls partly span the distance between the shafts. The sealing rings are pivotally connected to the housing for movement about pivot axes which are preferably 180.degree. apart from each other and, under the action of centrifugal force during rotation of the outer shaft, the rings pivot laterally towards surfaces of the housing to take up predetermined outer circumferential clearances of rotational symmetry between the outer periphery of the rings and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4752985
Abstract: Mops and process for making closed or uncut end mops particularly using single ply cotton yarn having a high degree of twist. The yarn is processed through a fringe making machine into lengths of pre-sewn fringe and the high twist yarn tends to bunch together in thick, ropy masses of yarn strands. The fringe is affixed to mop backs to form a mop, and the mops are then soaked in a high temperature water bath until the ropy yarn strands relax, straighten and separate. The mops are rinsed and transferred to a high temperature hot air dryer and dried until the separate yarn strands twist about their looped ends to form separate, individual doubled ply yarn strands with uncut ends.
