Patent number: 4593576Abstract: An internally and externally threaded double nut is screwed onto the threaded shaft of a stepper motor. The nut is restrained from rotational motion thereby limiting it to translation along the shaft axis. An internally threaded output sleeve is screwed onto the external thread of the double threaded nut. The pitch of the nut internal thread is smaller than that of the external thread so that rotary motion reduction occurs at the output sleeve. A ball bearing is positioned in contacting support between the sleeve and the shaft thereby minimizing output sleeve tolerance accumulations of eccentricity and axial positioning.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1984Date of Patent: June 10, 1986Assignee: The Singer CompanyInventor: Arnold Schindel

Patent number: 4576058Abstract: The present invention discloses a worm assembly comprising a first shaft; a second shaft coaxial to the first shaft, and a cylindrical worm made of hard metal and disposed between both shafts. Said first shaft is provided at the center of its end with a bolt which is closely fitted into the inner periphery of the worm and projects toward the second shaft. Said second shaft is provided at the center of it with a screw hole into which a screw portion of the bolt is screwed. Said worm is fixed unrotatably to both shafts by brazing or the others.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Nikken KousakushoInventor: Masakazu Matumoto

Patent number: 4572018Abstract: In an automotive vehicle transmission consisting of a synchronized gearshift transmission and a bevel-gear axle transmission driven by an output shaft of the gearshift transmission, the output shaft is movable with a bearing clamping plate to set the bevel gear contact play. In order to avoid, after setting of the gear contact play, having to readjust the shifting rods with respect to the sliding sleeves of the synchronizers, all of the gearshifting elements of the gearshift actuation as well as of the blocking interlock and preselection route blocking mechanisms are mounted on the bearing clamping plate and participate in the setting motion of the latter.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Patent number: 4559841Abstract: A gear train having an internal gear mechanism is disclosed for use with a continuously variable transmission unit of the nutating traction drive type. The gear train includes a body rotatable about a central axis, a first pinion gear rotatably mounted on the body on an inclined axis, a second pinion gear rotatably mounted on the central axis, and either one or two tapered internal gears rotatably mounted on the body on a nutating axis for transferring torque between the pinion gears. The gear train is simple, compact, and relatively efficient.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1983Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Robert O. Chambers

Patent number: 4478102Abstract: A tilt drive is provided for a metallurgical vessel which is mounted on a large sprocket wheel driven by two or more reduction gears. The reduction gears are joined by a torque equalizing apparatus which transmits torque from the pinion of one gear to the pinion of the other, thus acting as a forced synchronizer. The torque equalizing apparatus is effective in both the dynamic and static operations of the drive.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1982Date of Patent: October 23, 1984Assignee: Mannesmann AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wilhelm Ackermann, Karlheinz Langlitz

Patent number: 4437356Abstract: A gear, chiefly for use in timepieces, acoustic devices and like precision apparatus, is made of an elastic material and comprises teeth alternately arranged in two rows, that is, a front and rear row and axially positioned away from one another. Each of the teeth has a leg extending from the main body of the gear and a meshing portion integral with the outer end of the leg and engageable with another gear with which it is adapted to mesh. The legs of each two adjacent teeth in each of the front and rear rows are spaced apart from each other circumferentially of the gear by a specified distance to render the teeth elastically deformable for cushioning and thereby eliminate noise when the gear meshes with another gear. Even when the gear has a small module, the legs of the teeth in each of the front and rear rows can be spaced apart by a large distance, so that the gear can be formed easily, for example, by injection molding.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1981Date of Patent: March 20, 1984Inventor: Mikiharu Imazaike

Patent number: 4386921Abstract: A flexible power transmission belt especially adapted for transmitting power between pulleys such as variable pulleys in a transmission is constructed of a loop of material with closely adjacent lugs or teeth joined thereto, the lugs or teeth having a slot-like opening to receive the loop and having obliquely disposed wings which are deformed to join them to the loop. The wings are generally relatively soft whereas the toes or other parts of the teeth are generally hardened.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1982Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: Borg-Warner CorporationInventor: Richard W.
