Abstract: A swing training device. A plurality of legs is pivotally connected to a base. A bottom support tube is rigidly connected to the base. A height adjustment tube is inserted into the bottom support tube. The height of the height adjustment tube is controlled by a height adjustment controller. A lower band holder is rigidly connected to the upper end of the height adjustment tube. A band tube is positioned between the lower band holder at its lower end and an upper band holder at its upper end. A plurality of elastic bands are connected between the lower band holder and the upper band holder. A pivot piece is rigidly connected to the upper band holder. A rotation stick having a hittable ball is pivotally connected to the pivot piece. The bottom support tube, the height adjustment tube and the band tube form a rotation axis.

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present system deal with a basketball goal assembly which adjustably supports a backboard assembly and a rim assembly to enable players to play the game of basketball. In certain preferred aspects, the rim assembly is connected directly to the support arrangement so that force applied to the rim assembly is transmitted directly to the support assembly and is not transferred to the backboard assembly.

Abstract: A training bat for use by athletes to practice hitting in preparation for baseball and softball games. Bat comprises a barrel, a handle, an enlarged head at the end of bat remote from the handle, with a bore extending longitudinally through bat. A first weight is located at the lower end of the bore, and a rubber hose abuts the first weight. A second, larger weight extends through the enlarged head, and abuts the upper end of the hose. An impact absorbing material, such as rubber, is molded about the exterior of the bat. The bat, when swung, flexes in the area of the rubber hose. When used repeatedly, the training bat “works” the wrists, forearm, and back muscles of the hitter.

Abstract: A lacrosse head including a spine element that is at least partially embedded or encapsulated in a base and sidewalls of the lacrosse head. The spine element can terminate short of a scoop of the lacrosse head. Where the lacrosse sidewalls are of an open frame construction and include a non-string hole, the spine element can define a spine element hole that is aligned with the non-string hole. The spine element can also include a transverse element that spans from an upper rail to a lower rail of the sidewalls adjacent a cross member of the sidewalls. The base and sidewalls can include viewing apertures through which some of the spine element can be viewed, while other parts of the spine element remain concealed. The spine element can be constructed from one plastic, while the remainder of the head can be constructed from a different plastic.

Abstract: A hockey goal frame and a hockey goal frame with a mesh net assembly are disclosed. The hockey goal frame includes two vertical posts joined by a crossbar that defines a forward frame. The forward frame is supported by a lower supporting member. The forward frame and lower supporting member have attachments wires for accepting an attachment tab from a mesh net in order to attach the mesh net to the frame. The attachment tabs have two complimentary hook-and-loop fasteners that are coupled to surround the attachment tab around the attachment wires.

Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket includes an elongated single layer runner with multiple cross pieces. The single layer runner can be constructed from a material, such as a polymeric material, molded over the cross pieces. The cross pieces and/or runner can include speed lace loops with which a net lace can be joined. A related method includes providing cross pieces, overmolding a polymeric material over the cross pieces to form a single layer runner, where the overmolded material is the only structure extending between and connecting the cross pieces, and where the cross pieces are transverse to the runners. Another method includes providing a pocket base overmolding the base with a polymeric material to cover portions of it, and forming connection elements between different portions independently of any other components of the pocket base.

Abstract: A collapsible goal post includes a lower support extending from a playing field; a upper support having a first end and a second end, and a pivot assembly attaching the first end of the upper support to the lower support; an upper assembly comprising two uprights and a crossbar having two ends. The crossbar is attached to the second end of the support at about the midpoint of the crossbar. One of the two uprights is attached to each end of the crossbar. The upper support is configured to pivot about the pivot point assembly to move the upright assembly from a raised position to a lowered position. The two uprights are substantially perpendicular to the playing field in the raised position, and are substantially parallel to and contacting the playing field in the lowered position while the upper assembly and upper support remain attached to the lower support.

Abstract: A rebounding apparatus for returning soccer balls, baseballs and similar projectiles. The apparatus includes a rigid frame with a rebounding surface suspended within the frame. Pivotal support assemblies are used to support the apparatus in both horizontal and vertical orientations. The apparatus can be folded into a compact configuration for transport or storage.

Abstract: A swing exercising apparatus which can be used for improving a swing movement performed when practicing a sport or for other exercising purposes. The swing exercising apparatus comprises: a handle portion for grasping by the user; an elongated member having a distal end; a movable weight component for moving along the elongated member between a first position and a second position when the user swings the swing exercising apparatus, the movable weight component being closer to the distal end in the second position than in the first position; and a biasing mechanism comprising at least one elastic element for exerting a force biasing the movable weight component towards the first position when the movable weight component is located away from the first position along the elongated member. The biasing mechanism may comprise an attachment portion to attach the at least one elastic element, the attachment portion allowing the user to detach any of the at least one elastic element to adjust the force.

Abstract: A ball holder and base plate fixing structure for batting practice apparatus is provided, including a sheath tube and a base plate. The sheath tube includes a first segment and a second segment, connected to each other. The first segment has a round tube shape for providing placing said ball holder. The second segment has a trumpet shape, said sheath tube having compressible resilience. The base plate has an installation hole. When assembled, the second segment of the sheath tube is compressed into the installation hole for tight engagement so as to fix the sheath tube to the base plate. In this manner, the ball holder is sheathed into the sheath tube and fixed to base plate. During batting practice, the resilience of sheath tube allows the ball holder to swing and twist on impact to absorb and annihilate some of the impact. After batting, the resilience of sheath tube can restore the ball holder to original position.

Abstract: A first lacrosse head constructed from a first material having first properties or a second lacrosse head constructed from a second material having second properties is selectively used in lacrosse activities, based on environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity and/or solar activity, to provide generally consistent head performance as perceived by a lacrosse player across a range of environmental conditions. The first and second heads can be identical in structure, but constructed from different materials. For example, the first head can include a polyamide, optionally, Nylon 6,6 polyamide, and the second head can include a high performance polyamide resin, optionally a polypthalamide. An environmental indicator that provides visual and/or audible output with regard to environmental conditions can be included with at least one of the first head, the second head and a shaft to which the heads can be joined. Related methods of use are also provided.

Abstract: A beverage filter cartridge having a cup, a filter, a lid and at least one beverage ingredient is provided where the cup and lid are sealed together to form an interior chamber which is separated into a first and second compartments by the filter, which is preferably basket or cone shaped, and a beverage ingredient such as coffee is contained inside first compartment, and at least one of the cup, lid and filter contains calcium carbonate in an amount effective to either improve the ability of beverage makers to pierce the cup or to provide a means for the cartridge to absorb CO2 emitted by the ingredient thereby reducing the hold time to packing and reducing the number of defective cartridges.

Abstract: A basketball rim mounting assembly permitting multi-directional deflection in response to extraordinary forces imposed on the rim has a fixed portion coupled to a backboard and a movable portion fixed to a basketball rim. The fixed portion can include a back plate secured to a front face of the backboard and a pair of bracket plates fixed to extend forward from the back plate. A tilt regulating structure can control the extent of deflection of the rim relative to the backboard such that the extraordinary force necessary to cause the rim to break-away from its normal position is the same in any direction. The tilt regulating structure can bias a rollable member within a detent formed in the back plate. A pivot axis member can be coupled to the tilt regulating structure to define the tilt and roll axes of the movable portion relative to the fixed portion.

Abstract: A pitching game system may include a multi-direction course having a plurality of tossing sections juxtaposed side-by-side and a plurality of flexible projectiles. A plurality of targets may be placed at an ending point of each of the tossing sections. Each of the targets has a numerical point value imprinted on its top surface. The targets may further be positioned at the ending point of each of the tossing sections respectively. A plurality of marker cones spaced from the targets may be positioned at a starting point of each of the tossing sections. Such marker cones may designate a standing location of the player at each of the tossing sections respectively. The player may throw the projectiles along a trajectory having a linear distance of at least fifty feet beginning from a corresponding one of the marker cones and ending at a corresponding group of the targets respectively.
