Abstract: A variable height workstation includes a trolley delivery apparatus for moving a rail section from a gap formed in a subsidiary loop rail to a workstation located remotely from the loop. A pivotal cam moves with the rail section and arrests travel of a trolley on the movable rail section so that rail section may be moved toward the workstation while carrying the trolley. As the rail section moves upwardly toward the gap formed in the subsidiary loop, the cam rotates and accelerates the trolley off the rail section. The trolley delivery apparatus is employed in a subsidiary loop system whereby a first escapement device is located upstream of it to advance selected one of the diverted trolleys onto the moveable rail section.

Abstract: A conveyor system comprises a power and free central power track for receiving lead trolleys of a carrier and a pair of free tracks positioned on opposite sides of the power track for alternatively receiving trailing trolleys of the carriers such that the carriers are twin biased accumulated or banked in side-by-side relationship to one another on opposite sides of the power track. A switching mechanism is provided to control switching of the lead and trailing trolleys from a feed track to the appropriate power track or free track.
Abstract: A levitation, propulsion and guidance mechanism for an inductive repulsion-type magnetically levitated railway in which a vehicle runs along a track bed has superconducting coils fixedly arranged vertically on both sides of the truck of the vehicle at predetermined intervals therealong in a direction of travel of the vehicle. Propulsion coils are arranged on opposed walls of the track bed at predetermined intervals therealong in the direction of travel of said vehicle, and a propulsion power supply is connected to the propulsion conductor coils. Levitation-guidance conductor coils, each comprising upper and lower conductor coils positioned to have vertical symmetry, are disposed on sides of the propulsion conductor coils facing the superconducting coils and are arranged at predetermined intervals along the direction of travel of the vehicle.
Abstract: A mobile switch leveling, lining and tamping machine comprises a vertically and laterally adjustable leveling and lining tool carrier frame linked to the machine frame, a pair of flanged wheels supporting the carrier frame on a main track for mobility therealong, each flanged wheel engaging a respective rail and serving as a track lining tool, a respective power-operated, vertically and transversely adjustable track lifting tool mounted on the carrier frame for gripping each rail at one side thereof, a leveling and lining reference system including a main track position sensing device, the leveling and lining reference system controlling actuation of the track lifting and lining drives in response to the main track position sensed by the device, a vertically adjustable auxiliary device mounted on the machine frame for lifting a laterally adjacent track section, a power-actuated drive for laterally displacing the auxiliary device, and a measuring carriage associated with the machine and running on the laterall
