  • Patent number: 6260019
Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating electronic commerce between suppliers of predictions and consumers of predictions. Suppliers provide their predictions on the outcomes of future events in one or more categories, and each supplier's accuracy is tracked. Consumers interested in obtaining predictions for one of more of those categories are allowed to selectively choose which suppliers' predictions they wish to view. The suppliers are compensated based on the number of consumers who view their predictions. In one embodiment, the consumers pay for the predictions that they view while the suppliers are paid a portion of the revenue obtained from the consumers. In another embodiment the consumers are not charged and all revenue is derived from advertisers.

  • Patent number: 5983095
Abstract: A system and method in a radio telecommunications network of utilizing a plurality of telephone numbers with a single mobile telephone by changes to the network rather than the mobile telephone are disclosed. The system provides a mobile subscriber with an indication of the directory number dialed by the calling party. A plurality of directory numbers, a plurality of mobile identification numbers (MINs), and a plurality of alpha-numeric strings are stored in a database in the network such as a home location register (HLR). Several directory numbers are associated with the mobile telephone's MIN, and then each directory number is associated with an alpha-numeric string. When a directory number is dialed, an associated MIN and alpha-numeric string are identified. The MIN and alpha-numeric string are then transported through the network to the mobile telephone while the mobile telephone is being alerted.

  • Patent number: 5873063
Abstract: A speech synthesis application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) based on an Line Spectrum Pair (LSP) scheme. In the ASIC, the LSP parameter is encoded and two's complement fixed-point serial pipeline arithmetic operations with rounding are performed by an LSP speech synthesis digital filter. The operating rate demanded for the ASIC is low, and the elements of the ASIC are mostly in serial shift structure. So, the area of the LSP speech synthesis ASIC is much less than the conventional chip.
