  • Patent number: 7421223
Abstract: In an implementation of a printing system, an electrophotographic imaging plate electrostatically attracts a first concentration of an ink having a particular color. A developer unit is biased with a developer voltage and the first concentration of the ink is transferred onto the electrophotographic imaging plate from the developer unit according to the developer voltage. The electrophotographic imaging plate then electrostatically attracts a second concentration of the ink. The developer unit is biased with an adjusted developer voltage and the second concentration of the ink is transferred onto the electrophotographic imaging plate from the developer unit according to the adjusted developer voltage.

  • Patent number: 7409909
Abstract: A process for replacing the printing sleeves of a printing machine includes mounting printing sleeves that are not required for the printing process in at least one storage device. The transportation of the printing sleeves necessary for replacement between the storage device and the printing machine is performed by a transportation device. The transportation device has printing sleeve retaining devices that bring the printing sleeves into a position that facilitates their replacement. The arrangement of the printing sleeves in the transportation device is determined by a processing and control unit to which set positions of the printing sleeves during the next printing job are known. The processing and control unit adjusts the arrangement of the printing sleeves such that at least one printing sleeve retaining device remains free in the transportation device.

  • Patent number: 7401991
Abstract: A printer including a frame, a feed roller rotatably supported in the frame for advancing a recording medium, a sheet support plate for supporting said recording medium, a guide rail extending in parallel with an axial direction (Y) of the feed roller, and a carriage guided at the guide rail and carrying a printhead facing the recording medium on the sheet support plate, the frame being composed of a support structure and two plate-like function blocks, which are supported on said support structure at both ends of the feed roller so as to extend in respective planes (X-Z) normal to said axial direction (Y), and which support the guide rail and the sheet support plate, wherein the feed roller is rotatably supported in two bearings, each of which has a bearing case, each bearing case being supported on a member of the support structure, each of the function blocks defining a downwardly open V-shaped notch which is supported on the peripheral surface of one of the bearing cases at exactly two points, and the gui

  • Patent number: 7396175
Abstract: A sheet carrier, includes an upstream side sheet carriage part; a downstream side sheet carriage part; an overlapping detection part which is provided between the upstream side sheet carriage part and the downstream side sheet carriage part and is configured to detect an overlap of a front sheet and a rear sheet carried by the upstream side sheet carriage part and the downstream side sheet carriage part; and a driving control part configured to drive the upstream side sheet carriage part and the downstream side sheet carriage part at the time when the sheets are carried so that the sheets are carried via the sheet carriage path, and configured to stop driving the upstream side sheet carriage part and continue driving the downstream side sheet carriage part at the time when the overlap of the sheets is detected by the overlapping detection part.

  • Patent number: 7387459
Abstract: There is disclosed a portable printer operable in either a strip mode or a peel mode. In the peel mode, a pressure roll cooperates with a carrier web and the platen roll to strip labels from the web. A battery-powered electric motor advances a printable web through the printer. In order to reduce drag on the motor in the strip mode, the pressure roll is held in out of pressure contact with the platen roll.
