  • Patent number: 7024831
Abstract: A concrete floor system used in a building structure and a method of making floor components used with the floor system. The concrete floor system, if installed on grade, provides for expansion and contraction due to expansive soils and eliminates cracks, which heretofore occurred in poured concrete slab floors. The concrete floor system includes a plurality of parallel concrete beams. The beams can be made up of hollow concrete blocks for reduced weight and receiving a tension cable therethrough. Also, the beams can be either solid pre-cast beams, solid pre-cast, pre-tension beams or solid pre-cast, post-tension beams. Opposite ends of the cable are held on end plates inside recessed ends of each hollow beam. The ends of the beams are adapted for mounting next to the inside of the sides of a building foundation wall. The beams can be in a range of 5 to 20 feet and greater in length depending on the dimensions of the concrete floor.

  • Patent number: 7021013
Abstract: A compensator (18) is provided for compensating thermal expansions of ducts or pipelines (10) for carrying flows of hot media, especially ducts that are lined with fire-proof material. The compensator (18) is easy to maintain and is relatively simple in its design. This compensator (18) permits inspection of the operability of the expansion gap (19) between adjacent sections of the pipeline (10) and its elastic temperature-resistant jointing material (20) from the outside of the pipeline. The expansion gap (19) in the flame-proof lining is arranged in a cross section plane of the pipeline that is adjacent to but below the cross section plane of the corrugated pipe compensator (18) attached to the steel sheet jackets (15) of adjacent sections of pipeline (10).

  • Patent number: 7021012
Abstract: The waterproof decking is a series of embodiments of extruded panels for forming a watertight deck assembly. First side, second side, and intermediate panels are provided, each having complementary edges for mating with other corresponding panels. One edge of the first side and intermediate panels is provided with a drainage gutter and the tongue or groove of a tongue and groove connection, with mating edges of the second side and intermediate panels being provided with the mating tongue or groove configuration, depending upon the embodiment. Each of the embodiments includes a depending drip rail which serves to wedge tightly against the opposite wall of the gutter of the adjoining panel to prevent relative motion between the two, and also to prevent capillary flow of liquid across the underside of the panel where it could leak into the area below. Additional sealing may be provided along the tongue and groove joints.

  • Patent number: 7021020
Abstract: Column-beam building frame structure, wherein columns and beams are interconnected to distribute and share all lateral loads through collars that encircle columns at the nodal points of attachments between columns and beams. Each collar includes inner and outer components which seat, and gravity-lock together, during frame construction, and which also to offer a certain amount of immediate moment resistance to lateral loads. Tension bolt and nut assemblies lock the inner and outer collar components together, and with these assemblies in place, the collars (which circumsurround the beams) function to deliver beam moment loads as plural-position, angularly distributed compression loads to different side regions of columns.

  • Patent number: 7013612
Abstract: A multi-piece clamp for installation on a standing seam is disclosed. One component of the clamp is a clamp body with a clamp body slot formed therein. This slot may be mounted on a standing seam without having to slide the clamp body onto an end of the seam. Another component of the clamp is an insert(s) that may be disposed within the clamp body slot between a clamp body slot wall and the standing seam. One or more seam fasteners may be directed through the clamp body and a clamp body slot wall to secure each of the inserts within the clamp body slot by a compression of the same, and further to secure the clamp to the standing seam.

  • Patent number: 7013605
Abstract: A door suspension assembly includes a ferromagnetic flat plate horizontally extending from a support rail adapted to be attached to a door frame above a doorway or entrance portal. Two supporting blocks each have an opening in which a cylindrical bearing with an axial hole is located. The supporting blocks are attached to a door panel. Connectors extend downwardly from the flat plate and support a tube that extends through the holes in the bearings. A magnet array is supported by an upper plate attached to upper ends of the supporting blocks with a small magnetic gap between the magnet array and the flat plate such that the magnet array generates a magnetic force lifting the supporting blocks and the door panel. A primary of a linear motor is attached to the upper plate between the supporting blocks and cooperates with a secondary located in the interior of the tube to move the door panel relative to the flat plate.

  • Patent number: 7000356
Abstract: A molding includes an attaching portion to be bonded to an interior side of a peripheral edge of a glass plate and an elastic portion capable of being in close contact with a window opening. The molding is made of thermoplastic resin and has an electrically conductive member insert-molded therein, the electrically conductive member extending substantially parallel to a surface of the glass plate and generating heat by bringing an eddy current generator near thereto. The eddy current generator is brought near a surface of the transparent plate to generate heat in the electrically conductive member, thereby softening or melting the molding, and an external force is applied to the transparent plate to disassemble the transparent plate from the window opening of an automobile.

  • Patent number: 6996939
Abstract: A room partition system for a room having a central connecting panel and hingeably attached, foldable lateral storage units. Each of the lateral storage units has a bottom-mounted wheel assembly, thereby allowing the partition system to be rolled to various locations within the room. The lateral storage units have a plurality of shelves and provide substantial storage volume for containment of various items of clothing and other accessories. The lateral storage units are attached by hinges to the central connecting panel, thereby allowing a user to fold the storage units partially or fully against the connecting panel. The partition system has an open position, wherein the storage units extend parallel to the connecting panel, and also a folded position, wherein each lateral storage unit is rotated upon its hinges to a position perpendicular to that of the connecting panel, thereby forming a partially enclosed area for use as an entertainment center, a study center, or a work center.
