  • Patent number: 5374167
Abstract: A feed pump for a hydraulic system that is equipped with at least one outlet valve whose valve-closing body is loaded by a valve spring. The valve-closing body is held at a distance form its valve seat by means of a gas-filled hollow-body ring so that the feed pump can be evacuated through its outlet valve for subsequent filling with a hydraulic pressure medium. With a first increase in pressure in the system, the hollow-body ring is pressed together, so that the valve-closing body slips through the hollow-body ring and reaches its valve seat, thus making the outlet valve operational. The feed pump is suitable for use as a return pump for anti-skid systems of hydraulic brake systems.

  • Patent number: 5373428
Abstract: A lightbox for display purposes, such as advertising, comprises a rigid back plate adapted to be secured to a support surface, a light source carried by the back plate, and a front fascia of clear plastics material which can be flexed and which is held in place in a curved attitude on the back plate by the engagement of fastening means between the fascia and back plate. The fascia comprises outer and inner panels which sandwich a photographic transparency therebetween. Flexing of the fascia for mounting on the back plate causes the two panels to come into area contact with the transparency. Release of the fascia from the back plate causes the panels to be loosened and enables the transparency to be removed.

  • Patent number: 5357150
Abstract: An envelope follower is provided which reduces defect propagation when reading analog information signals from a read head of, for example, an optical drive or a magneto-resistive tape drive. In a preferred embodiment, the envelope follower includes a differential amplifier, to sense the difference between the amplitude of the information signal and an envelope voltage across a capacitor, and a current mirror, responsive to the differential amplifier, to charge the capacitor at a predetermined rate when the amplitude of the information signal exceeds the envelope voltage. • Patent number: 5353585
Abstract: An improved technique is disclosed for a combustion-based power generation system that includes a combustion chamber having an exhaust, a source of input air for the combustion chamber, a source of fuel for the combustion chamber, and a turbine and generator communicating with the combustion chamber for obtaining power from the combustion. The method includes the steps of: heating and humidifying the input air; sensing a condition of the heated and humidified input air, and generating a control signal in response to the sensed condition; and cooling the heated and humidified input air before it is input to the combustion chamber. Humidified input air that is at too high a temperature, or which is not saturated, is sensed, and appropriate trim cooling is provided to obtain the desired condition for the humidified input air. In this manner, maximum humidification is achieved while avoiding overheating and maintaining operating temperature in a desired range.
