    Abstract: The difference in voltages measured upstream and downstream of a pressure junction in a power distribution system produced by the energizing power is divided by the measured current to calculate a value that is a function of the impedance of the pressure junction, which is monitored for deterioration. To eliminate noise resulting from dividing a small number by a large number and transients in the power distribution system, the impedance is calculated from the squares of the voltage differences and currents for a large number of samples, and the change between successive calculations is limited to produce a stable median value.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an on-chip test device for testing the thickness of gate oxides in transistors. A ring oscillator provides a ring oscillator output and an inverter receives the ring oscillator output as an input. The inverter is coupled to a gate oxide and the inverter receives different voltages as power supplies. The difference between the voltages provides a measurement of capacitance of the gate oxide. The difference between the voltages is less than or equal to approximately one-third of the difference between a second set of voltages provided to the ring oscillator. The capacitance of the gate oxide comprises the inverse of the frequency of the ring oscillator output multiplied by the difference between the voltages, less a capacitance constant for the test device. This capacitance constant is for the test device alone, and does not include any part of the capacitance of the gate oxide. The measurement of capacitance of the gate oxide is used to determine the thickness of the gate oxide.

    Abstract: The object of the Electrical Density Gauge (EDG) invention is to provide a low cost, portable, non-nuclear, and rugged field-use device that measures dry density in soils that have been constructed for use as road-beds and building foundations. This data is used to ensure the quality control of the constructed foundation. The electrical properties of soil are measured at a radio frequency using probes driven into the soil. To calibrate EDG, certain algorithms of these electrical properties are related to physically measured wet densities and unit weights of water for a plurality of calibration test spots. Correlation regressions are found, that are used to convert values of the electrical properties measured at unknown field test spots into values of dry density.

A three-conductor electrical cable is connected at one end to a three-prong plug. The other end of the electrical cable is connected to the electrical test apparatus that determines and indicates the current energized state of the circuit breaker.

    Abstract: A testing device for connection to a relay is provided. The testing device comprises a binding post and a test paddle. The test paddle includes a body portion, a stud, a contact and a handle. The body portion has a stud opening, a contact opening associated with the stud opening and a barrier extending from a first end of the body. The contact extends through the contact opening and is electrically coupled to the stud. The handle is coupled to the body and configured for grasping by an individual's hand to promote insertion and removal of the test paddle from the relay. The binding post includes a cover configured for rotating the binding post, the cover having an inner chamber for receiving an insert of the binding post. The insert is configured to couple test equipment to the stud on the test paddle for testing relay switches.

    Abstract: An ionic current detection apparatus for an internal combustion engine does not generate a false ionic current, and hence it does not generate a false knock component signal either, thereby avoiding an incorrect combustion determination or an incorrect knock determination. The apparatus detects an ionic current generated in spark plugs connected with secondary sides of a plurality of ignition coils, respectively, each of which generates a high ignition voltage immediately after firing of a corresponding combustion chamber. The ignition coils are arranged in such a manner that at least the directions of adjacent ignition coils do not coincide with one another. In addition, the ignition coils are fixed by a fixture, which has arrangement positions for the ignition coils predetermined according to the mounting directions thereof, in such a manner that the directions of adjacent ignition coils do not coincide with one another, the ignition coils being installed on the engine through the fixture.

A charge injection unit is provided to inject charges into the floating gate electrode and into the nitride layer of the ON structure or the ONO structure by applying a voltage or voltage pulses to the control gate electrode, a center of concentration of the charges injected into the nitride layer being located at the interface between oxide layer and nitride layer of the layer sequence. The time recording device also includes a unit for recording a time which has elapsed since charge injection on the basis of changes in the transmission behavior of the channel region caused by a shift in the center of concentration of the charges in the nitride layer away from the interface.

    Abstract: An arrangement for measuring current through a phase section of a buck mode DC-DC converter includes an auxiliary integrated circuit containing an auxiliary power MOSFET and a pilot MOSFET coupled in parallel with a current path through a high side MOSFET of a half-bridge of the converter. The pilot MOSFET has a current path coupled to a current measurement terminal. The MOSFETs of the auxiliary circuit are time division multiplexed with the high side MOSFET, whereby a determination of current through the auxiliary high side MOSFET is based upon current through the pilot device and the geometric ratio of the size of the pilot device to that of the high side auxiliary MOSFET. The high side MOSFET is activated for a large number of switching cycles relative to the pilot circuitry, but the pilot circuitry is activated sufficiently often to derive a relatively accurate measure of current flow.
