Patent number: 5413019Abstract: An apparatus by which both tremolo action and string clamping and string intonation adjustment are achieved effectively and in a very small space. Adjustment screw shanks are threaded into bores in the inertia bar or block of the tremolo, and bear against the heads of pull screws that are connected to string-clamping saddles. The heads of the pull screws are received in recesses in the inertia bar; the inertia bar is connected to the bridge plate by several screws that do not interfere with the screw shanks. To adjust intonation, the bridge plate is pivoted upwardly and a wrench is employed to rotate the screw shanks, which in turn bear against the heads of the pull screws. Furthermore, the pull screws are rotated to release positions while the bridge plate is in its upwardly-pivoted position. After intonation is adjusted, the pull screws are rotated to lock the saddles in their desired positions.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1993Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: Fender Musical Instruments CorporationInventor: George F. Patent number: 5410937Abstract: In construction of a supporting mechanism for mounting a tubular tone generator to a stand of a percussive musical instrument, a holder shaft insertable into the sound generator is provided at its lower end with a pivotal lock bar of a biased mass distribution and a slidable coupled stopper to hold the lock bar at a prescribed angular position. When inserted into the sound generator, the lock bar turns automatically to assume the proscribed angular position due to the biased mass distribution and locks the holder shaft to the tone generator. Absence of the conventional tension wire binding system allows free choice in sound characteristics, simplified easy mounting operation and high mechanical durability even under vibratory conditions during performance.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1993Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventors: Tomio Okamoto, Junji Fujii

Patent number: 5410381Abstract: A camera having a finder, capable of photographing a first size and a second size, comprises a field frame for the first size, which is provided in front of an eye piece of said finder, and a field frame plate for the second size, which is provided in a manner to be movable between an objective lens and the eye piece of said finder and is formed with display portions for displaying portions other than a field frame and shielding portions. A field frame plate change-over mechanism retracts the field frame plate for the second size out of the optical path of the finder during the photographing of the first size, and disposes the field frame for the second size in the optical path of the finder between the objective lens and the eye piece during the photographing of the second size. This field frame plate shields the field frame for the first size by shielding portions of the field frame plate for the second size.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1993Date of Patent: April 25, 1995Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventors: Nobuyuki Kameyama, Hiroshi Ohmura, Atsuro Yajima

Patent number: 5392680Abstract: An improved tremolo device for a stringed musical instrument provides a fixed plate attached to the body portion, a fixed gear rack with teeth, and a movable plate that is slideable with respect to the fixed plate and has a bridge member. A pinion gear having teeth around the circumference thereof is provided to mesh with the teeth of the fixed gear rack and to move in unison with the movable plate. A lever is attached to the pinion gear for rotating the pinion gear to change the tension on the strings. The fixed plate has a slot or groove in the face thereof opposite the body, and the movable plate has a slot or groove in the face thereof opposite the fixed plate to form one or more cavities in which anti-friction bearings are encased. In the operation of the tremolo device of the invention, tension in the strings is decreased by depressing the lever which causes pinion gear to rotate, thereby driving the movable plate to cause the tremolo effect when the musical instrument is played.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1994Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Inventor: Eric P. Patent number: 5392092Abstract: A duplexing image forming device which selectively directs printed pages back onto the original paper supply, flipped over with respect to the page's original position and swapping the leading edge for the trailing edge, for printing on a second side. The formatter in the image forming device then instructs the printer engine to print the second side of the page and reverses the order of data supplied to the print engine. A paper diverter is installed at the output of the fuser mechanism in the print engine. The diverter selectively diverts paper from the standard output path into a vertical gravity reversing slot through three reversing rollers. The paper is fed from the diverter up through the nip between the single driven reversing roller and an idler reversing roller. The driven reversing roller pushes the paper up into the vertical gravity reversing slot.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1993Date of Patent: February 21, 1995Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventors: Anthony G. Patent number: 5371318Abstract: A motion generation mechanism particularly adapted for use in a music box is mounted in connection to the driving spring of a music box so as to permit the motion generation mechanism to actuate the head and limbs of a doll-like object to motion in tune with the music played by the music box. The motion generation mechanism is equipped with a first swing wire and follower arm wherein the follower arm is actuated by the swing wire to produce a swinging motion and a driving shaft associated with the follower arm is accordingly twisted back and forth. In the meanwhile, the second, third and fourth sets of swing wires and follower arms are driven by the back and forth twisted driving shaft to produce repetitive swing motions, causing the head, limbs of a doll-like object to move or dance in tune with the music.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Inventors: Feng H. Patent number: 5359158Abstract: A ceiling-mounted loudspeaker includes upper and lower sound-directing structures having walls acting as a radial horn to provide a wide included angle of coverage for sound energy generated by a loudspeaker driver assembly having a piston for directing generated sound energy upwardly into the horn. The lower structure further has a continuously convex bottom configured and dimensioned to define a diffraction path for at least some of the sound energy exiting the output mouth of the radial horn, so that the convex bottom acts as a downwardly-directed diffractor. The radial horn and convex bottom together produce an oblate spheroid of sound energy affording a substantially uniform amplitude of sound within a large finite horizontal plane at the level of a listener.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1993Date of Patent: October 25, 1994Assignee: Sonic Systems, Inc.Inventor: Daniel L. Patent number: 5296886Abstract: A film cassette adapted to be opened and closed comprises a film spool supported for rotation, and a lock for inhibiting rotation of the film spool when the cassette is closed and allowing the film spool to rotate when the cassette is opened. According to the invention, a retainer keeps the lock in place to make it inhibit rotation of the film spool when the cassette is opened, but allows the film spool to be initially forcibly rotated to move the lock out of place to then allow the film spool to be freely rotated. Thus, the film spool must be rotated to discontinue the affect of the lock after the cassette is opened.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1993Date of Patent: March 22, 1994Assignees: Eastman Kodak Company, Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventors: Dennis R. Patent number: 5293191Abstract: A central processing unit (CPU) is reset during the removal of a battery or the voltage drop, while, in an electrically erasable/programmable read-only memory (EEPROM), there is stored and held information of the camera operation immediately before the reset and the number of film frames. Then, when the CPU becomes operable by the exchange of batteries and the like, the information of camera operation immediately before the reset and the number of film frames are read out from the EEPROM during the processing at the initial stage thereafter, the operations corresponding to the information of camera operation is continued and the number of film frames thus read out is changed by one and set as the film count value when the information of camera operation indicates one frame delivery. With this arrangement, the interrupted frame delivery is also counted as one frame, so that the final frame is prevented from entering a photographing preventing region of a film.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1993Date of Patent: March 8, 1994Assignee: Fuji Photo Optical Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takao Umetsu
