Patent number: 7233655Abstract: A method and system for generating multi-modal callback messages for a user of a wireless terminal connected to an access network. A multi-modal response is generated in response to a request for information with a multi-modal callback server. The multi-modal response is transmitted to the wireless terminal using the access network. A text-based response is included in the multi-modal response that includes a means for allowing a predetermined portion of the multi-modal response to be read aloud to the user of the wireless terminal or another message may be read aloud to the user.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2002Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Accenture Global Services GmbHInventors: Michael L. Patent number: 7221739Abstract: A messaging system includes a messaging platform storing a message from a calling party, a switching mechanism for receiving a call from a subscriber to access the stored message, and a routing application at a server. The subscriber accesses the message at the messaging platform and signals for a callback connection with the calling party. In response, the messaging platform sends bookmark information to the routing application describing a current state of the messaging platform with regard to the subscriber. The routing application directs the switching mechanism to disconnect the subscriber from the messaging platform and connect the subscriber to the calling party. When the callback connection is completed, the routing application directs that the subscriber be re-connected with the messaging platform and sends the stored bookmark information back to same. The messaging platform employs such bookmark information to re-establish the current state.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2002Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Assignee: BellSouth Intellectual Property CorporationInventors: Azhar I. Patent number: 7215923Abstract: A system and method according to the present invention allow two or more peer-to-peer wireless devices to automatically connect to each other with no knowledge or pre-configuration of client/server roles. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a wireless device performs inquiries at a random interval, and performs an inquiry scan and a page scan when not performing the inquiries. Upon receiving a first device address in response to one of the inquiries, the wireless device performs a first page using the device address to establish a connection. And upon receiving an inquiry during the inquiry scan, the wireless device responds with a second device address, and if a second page is received during the page scan, establishes a connection.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2001Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Jason Hillyard

Patent number: 7203518Abstract: A wireless data retrieval device and method for implementing the same. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the wireless data retrieval device includes a first-in-first-out (FIFO) memory queue in the form of a linked list that stores standardized correspondence information. The wireless data retrieval device further includes an input/output device configured to transmit the standardized correspondence information to and receive said standardized correspondence information from a wireless channel.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2001Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Salvatore Nicholas Storino, Gregory John Uhlmann

Patent number: 7187759Abstract: A voice mail method screens calls made by a calling subscriber (10) to a called subscriber (20) which is unavailable (or otherwise screening calls). The screening method determines (110) whether the called subscriber (20) has a voice mail screening feature. An internet protocol multi-media system (50) receives the call from the called subscriber (114). The internet protocol multi-media system then transfers call control to a voicemail screening server which plays subscriber (20) the beginning of the voicemail message being left by subscriber (10) and offers to-route the call back to the called subscriber (20). The called subscriber then indicates via a short code whether the called subscriber will accept the call (124).Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2004Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Inventors: Pramodkumar Patel, Erwin P. Patent number: 7184775Abstract: A telecommunication system in which a plurality of terminals communicate with a base station or a connection station and a management unit determines the allocation of resources for calls from each terminal to the connection station. At least some of the terminals include a plurality of connections. Calls are effected by means of cells or packets. The allocation of resources is determined cell by cell or packet by packet in each connection. The management unit allocates communication resources to each terminal according to the total number of cells or packets waiting in each terminal and a weighting coefficient allocated to each terminal. The allocation of resources by the management unit is independent of the number of connections of each terminal. Each terminal allocates resources to each connection according to the overall resources allocated to it by the management unit and a weighting coefficient allocated to each connection of the terminal.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2001Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: AlcatelInventors: Cédric Lapaille, Francis Bourriaud, Pierre Parmentier, Christophe Gerrier

Patent number: 7177403Abstract: The event driven multi-media communication management system comprises a controller that interfaces with a plurality of communication space stations and with one or more communication medium service providers. The communication space station is a modular device that includes a platform, a voice system for providing an audio user interface, and a docking bay for coupling with a subscriber device. The controller accesses a subscriber contact directory that is associated with the subscriber device, communicates content messages representing at least a portion of the subscriber contact directory to the subscriber station, receives control messages representing subscriber selection of a contact, and establishes a communication channel in accordance with the selected subscriber communication information.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2002Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Inventors: Robert F. Patent number: 7162014Abstract: A system and method for interfacing unified message processing systems with legacy voice mail, e-mail and facsimile systems, located behind corporate firewalls. The system includes a unified message server, a proxy interface and a message protocol converter. The proxy interface is configured to access the legacy system in response to a request from a unified message server. Messages stored on the legacy system are converted by a protocol converter to a predetermined format compatible with the unified message server. The converted messages are then transferred to a unified message server which is capable of providing messages from different messaging system, such as voice mail, e-mail and facsimile to users in a predetermined format. The invention permits enterprise wide communication systems to provide unified messaging without abandoning pre-existing legacy messaging system.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2004Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Assignees: SBC Properties, L.P., Northern Telecom LimitedInventors: Julia Skladman, Robert J.
