Patent number: 4958556Abstract: Baked goods and in particular hard biscuits and crackers which are hollow and which are adapted to contain a filling are inverted subsequent to baking so that the biscuit or cracker can have a filling inserted therein from the side of the biscuit or cracker that had been contacting the bottom of the oven. It is preferred to insert a filling by means of needle injection into hollow biscuits and crackers through the side that had been in contact with the bottom of the oven since the other side in many instances will contain a fanciful design. The baked hollow forms as they emerge from the oven are inverted by being flowed to a wheel containing longitudinal stepped sections which upon rotation deposit the baked hollow forms on a lower conveyor belt in an inverted form. The hollow baked and inverted forms are then moved to an indexing mechanism which holds the hollow baked forms while they are pierced by a needle and filled with a desired filling.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1989Date of Patent: September 25, 1990Assignee: Nabisco Brands, Inc.Inventors: Agostino Aquino, Karl U. Patent number: 4951344Abstract: Presented is a device for cleaning dirt and debris from the top surface and side surface portions of a beverage can from which the contents are to be drunk directly by placing the mouth on the end of the can surrounding the opening therein. Included is a flange portion that overlaps the side of the can so that a towel sandwiched between the cleaning device and the can wipes away contaminants. Also included is a bead that projects into the groove found on most cans within the rim to thereby press a layer of paper toweling or facial tissue into the groove so that upon rotation of the cleaning device on the end of the can, any contaminants are wiped away, thus preventing them from being entrained with and consumed with the beverage. A concave surface on the cleaning device presses paper towel or facial tissue against the top of the can in the area surrounding where the opening will be formed when the beverage can is opened.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1988Date of Patent: August 28, 1990Inventor: Youbert Alkhato

Patent number: 4945825Abstract: Disclosed is a machine for moving bakery pans in a stepwise fashion to enable rows of cups in the pans to be filled with dough packets. The rows of cups are spaced apart a predetermined distance which will vary depending upon the type of bakery product being made. The pans are carried by a converter and an indexing device is used to prevent these pans from being moved by the conveyor until individual rows of cups are filled with dough packets. The indexing device includes a helical arm mounted on a shaft which is removably coupled to an indexing motor that revolves the shaft through a 360.degree. turn and then momentarily stops to enable the cups to be filled with dough packets. The flights of the arm are spaced apart a distance corresponding to the spacing between rows of cups, with each flight having an edge which will engage a raised lip along the perimeter of the pan. The edge of the flight bearing against the lip of the pan prevents the pan from moving until the arm is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1989Date of Patent: August 7, 1990Inventor: Augusto Florindez
