  • Patent number: 4630586
Abstract: A fuel injection pump is proposed for internal combustion engines having a control slide displaceable on the pump piston. The control slide cooperates with an oblique groove on a pump piston. The oblique groove is arranged to communicate via a conduit with a pump work chamber. The pump piston is rotatable and has a longitudinal groove of predetermined length on its jacket surface, which groove is adapted to communicate with the oblique groove and with its end remote from the pump work chamber determines the supply onset of the pump by plunging into the control slide.

  • Patent number: 4628881
Abstract: An electronically controlled fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine. The timing of the commencement of fuel injection into each combustion chamber is not fixed relative to the rotational position of the camshaft or other engine components. A unit injector assembly associated with each combustion chamber includes a control module and an accumulator type injector module. The control module contains a solenoid valve and, in some embodiments, a hydraulic pressure intensifier. The accumulator type injector module contains an injector nozzle, a hydraulic accumulator, and a non-return valve for admitting liquid fuel under pressure into the accumulator. In operation, an electrical control system supplies an electrical signal to the control module an appreciable portion of the engine cycle in advance of the time when fuel injection is to be initiated in the particular combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4623957
Abstract: An auxiliary lighting fixture comprises a base adapted to be hung on a wall via a statistical loop fastener and receiving batteries, and a housing releasably secured on the base and having a light bulb, reflector and lens mounted thereon. The light bulb is mounted by a clip with a hook engaging the bulb's flanged base. A circuit, including a timer and control switches, is mounted to the housing and electrically connected to the batteries by contact between metal strips in both the base and housing. Upon selection of the timed mode, the bulb operates for a timer interval of 30-45 seconds, thereby preventing accidental battery depletion. ON and OFF switches are provided for untimed operation, and the OFF switch overrides the timer.

  • Patent number: 4621601
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having an arbitrarily actuatable adjustment lever, the movement of which lever is fed as a set-point variable to an rpm governor for the purpose of fuel metering. Between the arbitrary adjustment and its intervention with the rpm governor, for example on the governor spring, there is a coupling device which has a nonlinear relationship between the arbitrary adjustment and the degree of intervention with the rpm governor. This coupling device for generating the nonlinear relationship has a unilateral lever supported in a stationary manner and having an oblong slot in its longitudinal axis, in which slot a guide element, attached to an adjusting device such as an auxiliary adjusting lever to arranged to slide. The arbitrary adjustment engages the adjusting device, and the lever acts upon the rpm governor.

  • Patent number: 4619233
Abstract: An improved fuel injection system of the type in which the fuel injection timing and the fuel injection rate vary with the plunger pre-stroke which is regulated by displacing a control sleeve slidably fitted on a plunger reciprocating at a non-uniform speed and in which the actual injection quantity varies with the pre-stroke. The fuel injection system comprise an engine operating condition sensor, a pre-stroke control means, and a control sleeve driving means that cooperate to adjust the plunger pre-stroke. The amount of pre-stroke is detected by a position sensor. The position sensor and the engine operating condition sensor deliver respective outputs to a correction arithmetic means which computes the amount of deviation and thereby the amount of correction based on the outputs delivered.

  • Patent number: 4617903
Abstract: A diesel engine with an injection pump coordinated to each cylinder. The pump piston (13) of each injection pump is actuated by a cam (15) of a camshaft (12) by way of a roller tappet (14). Each roller tappet (14) is arranged in an individual tappet guide member (16) which is axially adjustably supported by means of two coaxial cylindrical guide pins (17, 18) in corresponding openings (19, 20) of the cylinder crankcase (11). By means of this arrangement, the position between cam (15) and roller tappet (14) and therewith the delivery start of the injection pump is adjustable by displacement of the tappet guide member (16). A universal applicability for diesel engines with different cylinder numbers is achieved by the individual arrangement of the tappet guide members (16), whereby additionally a simple manufacture and assembly is realized.

  • Patent number: 4610233
Abstract: A fuel injection system for in internal combustion engine includes a solenoid valve disposed across a fuel passage defined in a fuel injection pump and actuatable under the control of a control circuit for controlling the fuel injection quantity and the fuel injection timing. The actual fuel injection quantity is detected by a sensor disposed in the solenoid valve and fed back to the electric circuit where it is compared with the objective fuel injection quantity determined on the basis of engine operating conditions. If there is a difference, the fuel injection quantity supplied to the internal combustion engine through the solenoid valve is changed by the control circuit in a measured manner which will tend to make this difference disappear. The control of the fuel injection timing can be achieved by the system substantially the same manner as described above. The sensor comprises an electric on-off switch defined jointly by a valve seat and a valve element of the solenoid valve.

  • Patent number: 4609976
Abstract: To provide for maximum light intensity in a selected mode of operation--th or flashlight mode or warning flasher mode, an elongated tubular housing has a body portion (2) and a head portion (3), the two portions being connected together by a hollow tube (17) secured preferably to the head portion (3) and slideable within the body portion. A reflector system (5) is secured to the head portion, and the halogen incandescent lamp seated on the body portion. For flashlight operation, the reflector system is fitted over the halogen incandescent lamp, and light from the lamp is directed axially outwardly of the flash lamp; for blinker operation, the entire head portion is pulled upwardly, along with the reflector for a distance, such that the reflector will clear the halogen incandescent lamp (16), thus providing for 360.degree. light radiation--with respect to the axis of the lamp--and essentially directing all light from the halogen incandescent lamp for blinder or warning purposes.

  • Patent number: 4604978
Abstract: A speed governor for fuel injection pumps is proposed having a guide shaft guided in a cam plate to serve as the pivot shaft for a governor lever connecting an adjusting member and a supply quantity control member. The guide shaft is adjustable and guided appropriately by means of an adjusting lever so far as to form a variable-speed governor adapted to varying the full-load and maximum rpm. The cam plate is adjustable by a device by means of an operating parameter acting independently of the speed governor, for instance, the engagement of a cruising or overdrive gear in a manual transmission. Upon rotation of the cam plate, the guide shaft is displaced by a movement-coupling member into a position in which a minimum idling rpm is assured.
