  • Patent number: 11490885
Abstract: A method of joining together two tissue layers includes positioning a tissue anchor over a first tissue layer. The tissue anchor includes a plate having top and bottom surfaces, an array of first pins projecting from the bottom surface of the plate that oppose the first tissue layer, and an array of second pins projecting from the top surface of the plate that face away from the first tissue layer. A second tissue layer is placed over the first tissue layer and the tissue anchor so that the second pins oppose the second tissue layer. The second tissue layer is pressed onto the tissue anchor and toward the first tissue layer so that the first pins advance into the first tissue layer and the second pins advance into the second tissue layer for joining together the first and second tissue layers. The plate has second pin apertures and the second pins are free to slide and move independently of one another within the second pin apertures.

  • Patent number: 11490920
Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a housing, an end effector, a movable handle, and a drive assembly. The movable handle includes first and second cantilever spring arms and is movable relative to the housing between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position. The first cantilever spring arm is flexed upon movement of the movable handle from the spaced-apart position towards the approximated position to bias the movable handle towards the spaced-apart position. The drive assembly is operably coupled between the movable handle and the end effector such that movement of the movable handle from the spaced-apart position towards the approximated position moves the end effector from an open position towards a clamping position for clamping tissue. The second cantilever spring arm is flexed upon application of a threshold pressure to tissue clamped by the end effector to control an amount of pressure applied to tissue clamped by the end effector.

  • Patent number: 11484430
Abstract: A nasal compressive device for preventing post-operative swelling following a rhinoplasty or other procedure performed on a user's nose or nasal cavity and prevent possible poly-beak deformities. The nasal compressive device includes nasal plugs and a nasal bridge disposed on a selectively actuated clip with a resilient spring portion. The user actuates the clip to open the nasal compressive device and then inserts the nasal plugs into their nostrils. The user then relaxes or closes the nasal compressive device which brings the nasal plugs into contact with an inner surface of their nasal cavity while also forcing the nasal bridge down on top of the user's dorsum. Once placed in the user's nose, the nasal compressive device also applies an upward force to the tip of the user's nose while also simultaneously providing a compression force over the user's dorsum, thereby reducing the amount of unwanted swelling and further shaping the nose.
