  • Patent number: 7770893
Abstract: A system reads an identifier from a hand of cards to identify the cards. For example, the system can read an identifier from a pair of cards forming the initial hand in blackjack, where the one card is face up and the other card is face down. The system determines the value of a hand of cards form the read identifiers. For example, the system can determine a value of an initial hand of two cards in blackjack, while only one card is face up. The system can inform a dealer of the value, or status based on value, of the hand. The system can determine whether cards forming a hand of cards are authenticate by validating the cards based on the read identifier. The system can determine if the cards forming the hand of cards are in an expected sequence based on a knowledge of the initial sequence of cards in a deck.

  • Patent number: 7758410
Abstract: A method for conducting a wagering game includes receiving a wager from a player to play the game and providing a plurality of symbol-bearing objects to form a first user-playable hand. The method includes providing the ability to discard, via player selection, one or more of the provided symbol-bearing objects from the first user-playable hand. The discarded symbol-bearing objects are collected and replaced with a replacement symbol-bearing object to form a second user-playable hand. The method includes awarding the player a payoff based on a ranking of the second user-playable hand in response to the second user-playable hand meeting a predetermined criterion. The method includes forming a best-possible hand from the plurality of the symbol-bearing objects of the second user-playable hand and the collected, discarded symbol-bearing objects and awarding a bonus payoff based on a ranking of the best-possible hand in response to the best-possible hand meeting a predetermined criterion.

  • Patent number: 7753768
Abstract: A mahjong gaming apparatus with suit variable mahjong tiles has a server apparatus and multiple player terminal apparatuses. The server apparatus has a server and a random number generator. The random number generator is controlled by the server to randomly generate a suit of a particular mahjong tile. Each player terminal apparatus has at least one suit variable mahjong tile and a player terminal. The suit variable mahjong tile is capable of generating lines corresponding to the suit. The player terminal corresponds to a player, accepts inputs from the player, receives the suit from the server apparatus and controls the suit variable mahjong tile to generate the lines corresponding to the suit. Players may hold the suit variable mahjong tile to feel the lines before uncovering the mahjong tile.

  • Patent number: 7749060
Abstract: A game system for playing a game between a plurality of players, the system comprising: a plurality of matching tile groupings, each one of the matching tile groupings defined by a plurality of tiles having a machine-readable identifier configured to identify its corresponding tile, wherein each one of the matching tile groupings is distinguishable from one another based on a distinct human-readable identifier disposed and viewable only on its bottom surface; a board comprising a plurality of distinct positions for placing each tile; and a scoring brick configured to: maintain each player's score, determine a penalty matching tile grouping and a bonus matching tile grouping, read the machine-readable identifier, and adjust the player's score, wherein the player's score is penalized for a penalty tile, and the player's score is rewarded for a bonus tile or for a predetermined number of consecutively read tiles.

  • Patent number: 7713120
Abstract: A gaming method, apparatus and system for playing a game of chance is disclosed in which a plurality of gaming machines may be linked together for mutually competitive play. According to one embodiment, two or more gaming machines are linked to a centrally located display exhibiting a game board comprising one or more groups of earmarkable cells in one or more groups. Players on the gaming machines wager and attempt to achieve winning outcomes which earmark cells in the group with designators of their respective gaming machines. When a predetermined number or configuration of cells of a group are earmarked, an award may be distributed to those gaming machines having earmarked cells according to the number of designators within that group associated with each gaming machine. The game of chance may be configured for play on an individual gaming machine.

  • Patent number: 7670223
Abstract: Players participate in bingo-type games through player stations each having a suitable player interface. The player may manually select between multiple modes in which the player's bingo card representations are daubed. In one daub mode, once a player is assigned a bingo card representation and a game designation set is associated with the bingo card representation, daubing the bingo card representation must be performed manually by the player at the player's respective player station using a suitable interface at the player station. In a card daub mode, one or more of the player's bingo card representations is automatically daubed in response to a card daub input made by the player at the player station using a suitable input device. In a game daub mode, one or more of the player's bingo card representations are daubed without any action by the player other than the player's selection of the game daub mode and the player's submission of a request to enter a bingo game offered by the system.

  • Patent number: 7658675
Abstract: A game apparatus includes a touch panel on which at least two pointing positions are simultaneously detectable. In response to an operation of the touch panel by a player, coordinates values of the detected two points are detected, and at least one of a distance between the two points and an angle of the line connecting the two points is calculated. Furthermore, change amounts of the distance and angle between the two points are calculated. A movement parameter such as a travel speed and a turning angle is set on the basis of at least one of the calculated distance and angle, and the movement of the character such as travel and turning is controlled on the basis of the movement parameter. In addition, when a pointing state of the two points is changed, the movement parameter is changed on the basis of a change amount, and the movement of the character is controlled on the basis of the movement parameter.
