  • Patent number: 10979862
Abstract: In a tracking device system, a networked smart device is enabled to cause execution of an executable function if a trigger condition of a conditional rule is satisfied. The conditional rules are customizable on a user interface of the smart device. The trigger condition may be any sensor information from a tracking device, or a location, a time, a date, a button press, a proximity, and more generally a trigger condition can be any condition that has a truth value by which an IF/THEN conditional rule can be evaluated and either is satisfied or is not. Executable functions for use in conditional rules may be selected from functions of the smart device, but also may include functions of a remote apparatus or functions such as an alarm state activation of a tracking device. Tracking devices have portable Bluetooth radiosets. According to one embodiment, a smart device is a smartphone, smartwatch or other personal computing device.

  • Patent number: 10937472
Abstract: A system for acclimating a horse to the sound of opening a chute gate of a rodeo arena in a timed chase event is disclosed. The system includes an arena with a chute gate, a recording and playback device, at least one speaker, and a controller. In use, a horse-mounted rider is contained within a box at the side of the chute. The horse has incorrectly associated the sound of the gate with beginning chase. The recording and playback device records the sound of the opening of the gate, which may be played back for the horse to hear within the box. Upon hearing the sound, the rider holds back the horse to prevent giving chase. Repeated use acclimates the horse to the sound and teaches the horse to wait for the rider's cue to begin chase. A method of use is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10935188
Abstract: An optimized, energy-sensitive system and method for fulfilling various data needs of gas utilities. In particular, the disclosure relates to optimized methods for discovering and reacting to an alarm. In one aspect, when an alarm is triggered a telemetry unit automatically alters its operating mode to begin transmitting live pressure reads every minute instead of every hour, as typically performed. This variance in operation eliminates the need for a user to monitor a pipeline system for an incoming alarm and manually request data by initiating a live communication session.

  • Patent number: 10922944
Abstract: A method for detecting the status of a caregiver with respect to one or more patients or detecting possible caregiver impairment includes monitoring an environmental aspect of the patient. The monitored environmental aspect is at least one of caregiver physical activity, caregiver physiological state, and patient surroundings. The method assesses conformance/nonconformance of each monitored aspect relative to a specified norm for that aspect. If the assessment of conformance/nonconformance indicates an intuitive concern of the caregiver or a possible impairment of the caregiver, the method issues a signal to a destination which indicates the possible concern or impairment. A system for carrying out the method includes a sensing subsystem, a processor, and machine readable instructions. The machine readable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the system to identify, in response to information sensed by the sensing subsystem, the possibility of caregiver concern or impairment.

  • Patent number: 10896561
Abstract: A method in an access control system includes maintaining a database of access control event data generated by a plurality of access control devices installed in a building and iterating through the access control event data in order to generate a connectivity model for the building. Generating the connectivity model includes, for each iteration, identifying a user interaction with a first door at a first time and a user interaction with a second door at a second time, determining if a difference between the first time and the second time is less than a threshold period of time, and either creating the connection between the first door and the second door or updating a weight associated with the connection. The connectivity model can be used in the access control system to correlate access control events across locations in a building or building campus.

  • Patent number: 10744977
Abstract: A method for operating a passive access system for motor vehicles includes arranging multiple transmission antennas at different locations on a motor vehicle for sending out low frequency signals. A mobile ID transponder, formed by a 3D-receiving antenna assembly, receives the low frequency signals. The antennas send out time-delayed first signals and then simultaneously send out signals. A signal strength is detected by the 3D antenna assembly in the ID transponder for each spatial direction. Information related to the space-direction-dependent signal strengths is transmitted from the ID transponder to the motor vehicle. Depending on the received information, the transmission signal strengths are adjusted. Then, further low frequency signals are sent, and received in the ID transponder. Based on further signal strength information, a plausibility check is performed in order to detect an extension of the signal path between the motor vehicle and the ID transponder via intermediate stations.
