Abstract: The present invention relates to a coating composition comprising: a) silanized colloidal silica particles; b) alkyd-containing binder; c) a carrier fluid, wherein the coating composition is essentially free from a cobalt-based drier. The present invention also relates to a method of producing a coating composition and the use of such coating composition for coating of a substrate.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a polystyrene based nanocomposite by combining a monomer with a nanoparticle to form a mixture and subjecting the mixture to polymerization conditions to produce a polymeric composite. In an embodiment the nanoparticle has been treated with an additive prior to combining with the monomer and the additive contains a silane moiety.
Abstract: A hybrid siloxy derived resin and a method of making them and a method of applying them as a benign passivant on electrochemical electrodes is provided. These resins are made by the process of reacting a silane and an alkaline, transition metal or metalloid alkoxide, in the presence of a lewis acid. The methods described do not require further purification steps; heat; or strong acid/base catalysis to initiate hydrolysis.
Abstract: A functionalized silica product includes particles of a hydrophobated silica having a coating of a polymer. A ratio of the hydrophobated silica to the polymer is from about 0.3/1 to about 100/1. The functionalized silica product may be in the form of a friable crumb or a powder, or in the form of a bale, that may be mixed into an elastomer formulation for a rubber article, such as a tire component.
Abstract: A stimulus-responsive compound includes a pair of polysiloxane chains, a cross-linking moiety which cross-links the polysiloxane chains, and a liquid crystal moiety which is bonded to the polysiloxane chain. The cross-linking moiety includes a unit A which has a bond functioning as a rotation axis, and also has first and second groups located at different ends of the bond, a first unit B which is disposed at a first bonding site of the first group, a second unit B which is disposed at a first bonding site of the second group, a first unit C, and a second unit C. The first unit C and one of the polysiloxane chains are bonded to each other. The second unit C and the other of the polysiloxane chains are bonded to each other. The first unit B and the second unit B are bonded to each other by a reduction reaction.
Abstract: The present invention relates to microparticles comprising: at least one type of a platinum-based catalyst; and a thermoplastic polyolefin resin with a Z-average (Mz) of a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 2500 and Mz/Mw of not more than 2.0, wherein the platinum-based catalyst is dispersed in the thermoplastic polyolefin resin. The microparticles make it possible to obtain a one-component curable organopolysiloxane composition having characteristics such as excellent storage stability.
Abstract: A release sheet comprising a base material and a release agent layer formed on at least one surface of the base material, wherein: the release agent layer is formed by using a release agent composition; the release agent composition contains a first polydimethylsiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups in one molecule and a second polydimethylsiloxane having at least two hydrosilyl groups in one molecule; the release agent composition contains 10.00 to 16.00 mmol of the alkenyl groups and 40.00 to 145.00 mmol of the hydrosilyl groups in a total of 30 g of the first polydimethylsiloxane and the second polydimethylsiloxane; and a molar ratio (b/a) of the hydrosilyl groups (b) to the alkenyl groups (a) is 2.0 to 15.0. According to the release sheet, it is possible to suppress the peeling force from increasing even when the release agent layer of the release sheet is exposed to the air for a long time.
